Word is that the problems stem from draft-eligible players and their involvement with NFL agents. It is being said that Marvin Austin and Greg Little will be ineligible for the upcoming season. Just passing along what's being said up here in the Carolinas.

I want to beat them with the whole defense.

Yep, if not, it will diminish the win.

Will we only be 0.85-0 instead of 1-0?

I want the win. I don't care if they lose the whole first string.

That would be about par for the course for Miles lately. Gets the win that lots of people think he can't, only to be told he got the win because the other team wasn't a full strength.

Meanwhile if Kelvin Sheppard and Patrick Peterson were to miss the game, and LSU loses, those same fans would scream that there are no excuses in football, and you play with what you got, or something like that.

Unfortunately all else being equal, pollsters may not see it your way.

Do you think we're winning the NC next year? Because if not then polls don't matter at all.

Few people believe that.

Yeah, there is a huge difference. LSU needs some respect, its been lost over the last few years. Quality wins do matter, a toothless UNC isn't a quality win.

I am betting you have followed college football longer than just this year, so I am pretty sure you know:

1. a win against a diminished team is better than a loss.
2. by the time December rolls around pollsters don't care that much about labor day weekend rosters.

Guess you missed "want" which means prefer. But a win isn't always just a win.

Not necessarily.

Are you really in Juneau or just wishing?

I love that hike up to Mt. Roberts.

P.S. I will still take a diminished win any day. With our schedule, it won't hurt us at all.

We play in the SEC. We'll have plenty of opportunities for quality wins. Winning the season opener on national TV is all that matters.

Pollsters don't watch all of the games. They look at the final score and the rankings generally.

You hit the nail on the head. It's still a Butch Davis defense. It will still matter very much.

Maybe....but about 7 1/2 days after the game i won't give a shite. And about 4 months later either will the pollsters.

Beating a complete UNC and a diminished UNC is about the same difference between beating UGA or beating Kentucky. Yep, it matters....depending on how LSU finishes the season.

To say its not preferable is being dishonest.

No, it won't. LSU needs a win in the worst way, I'll take it anyway I can get it.
