SEC Championship venue

Will the SEC title game ever be played again somewhere other than in the GA Dome? I was wondering since I was listening to an ESPN podcast speculating about where the PAC-10 & Big 10 will schedule their games.
When the ADs voted in the past, the SEC East voted as a bloc, w/ maybe 1 defection + Auburn joining them to vote for Atlanta. The SEC West never agreed to vote together for a different city.
I've heard N.O. wasn't popular since the SEC champ often goes to the Sugar Bowl. The past 2 yrs, the Sugar Bowl has been the consolation prize for the SEC title game loser. That's likely to continue. So there are concerns about fans traveling there twice in the span of 5 weeks.
I wonder if Nashville would be attractive to some members. It's centrally located so many fans could drive there in less than 6 hrs. Plus, it has an NFL stadium w/ all the luxury boxes craved by the sponsors. Is the fact that it's an outdoor stadium a deal-breaker?

Nashville would be a great place, but their playing surface is terrible every year by the time Nov and Dec rolls around- FieldTurf??? IMO the game belongs in a dome, because we all saw what the outdoor weather was like at Legion Field in the Ham those first 2 years.

A championship game at that time of the year belongs in a dome.
One other factor to consider - if the SEC moves out of Atlanta, you can bet the ACC will move right in.

I doubt it. A large reason it went to ATL was the dome and weather reasons. Alot more comfortable to play there than a rainy 38 degree field.

I don't see a move anytime soon

I was wondering how conference expansion in the SEC would have affected the game being played in Atlanta or if we would have seen a little change. I guess it would have depended on how many of the Big 12 South teams actually came to the SEC. Just something to think about.

Yes Atlanta has an indoor stadium, but having games in N. O. Is just awesome.
Nashville would also be awesome with their strip right near the stadium.
Atlanta has lots to do in the city, but when I went in 2007 the pre game and post game just wasn't as fun. It was like you had to get caught up in traffic to go out afterwards. Maybe I just don't know the area well enough.

i think New Orleans is owed an SEC championship game. Atlanta got the sugar bowl after Katrina. So I think we should get to host the SEC champ. at least one year in return...

The Georgia Dome in Atlanta is, unfortunately, the best site for the game and will most likely remain so for a long time.
Arkansas and us are the only two schools that are very out of the way.

UF has a pretty long drive too.

The Ham has tried to get its act together for a dome for like 15 years. I think they even had a ground breaking once.

Gainesville isn't that far from Atlanta, it's 330 miles. Gainesville to New Orleans is 530 miles.

The ONLY dome that will EVER exist in the Ham is the top of Paul Finescum's bald head. The Ham frickin' sucks- cities are blowing up their domed stadiums for better domed stadiums and the Ham can't get their Gump shite together to even build a dome.

nothing lasts forever.
Super dome could be used.
Fed Ex may build a dome if Memphis is allowed into the SEC next year.

One thing about it- if the SECCG were played on campus at Oxfart, Ole Piss still couldn't find their way to the game!

Memfart is in the same boat as the Ham except for having the Grizzlies- why would they build a dome so Memfart would have a place to play and for the slim hope of landing the SECCG??? Pro FB is in Nashville.

That's cuz everyone that lives in Metro Bham, knows that Bham will eff it up if they build one and nobody want's to go downtown. If they'd raze the Bham race course, they could put it there, get the cities of Irondale,Trussville and probably St. Clair counties on board, since it would benefit the Leeds/Moody area, then it'd get some traction I think. 3 major interstates and Hwy 11 and Hwy 78 on either side, it's the perfect location. But Jeff Co and Bham are so corrupt, nobody is going to support anything of this magnitude anymore.

If you thought the Big 12 Championship game was great at Arrowhead, then you'll love the SEC Championship game in Nashville.
It'll be cold, rainy, and maybe even snowy!!!

...There are muliple reasons it is held annually in Atlanta.
It is the only domed stadium that is somewhat geographically centered.
It's in a large city with sufficient hotels.
Also, the main reason it is in Atlanta is Auburn. The SEC East prefers Atlanta because these teams have more of a home field advantage.
Auburn votes for Atlanta because they are only an hour and a half away.
