will everyone on here be saying things like "thank God Miles made those coaching changes in the offseason" and basically saying that the success will be because of the new coaches? If they do, then they'll have to admit that Les Miles is really a good coach but was just surrounded by the wrong staff... Just something I thought about.

if LSU has a great year, most will probably point to improvement at the QB position, the second year under Chavis for the D, or the fact that a couple of killer recruiting classes are starting to pay off.

Great thread. Lets have another 250 just like it in the next two months just to make sure the board doesn't get boring.

Les could win the NC next year and the year after and then finish in the top 5 for 10 straight years and I still wouldn't say he was a better coach than Nick Saban.

Wouldn't want to fire him any longer. But I will never say or think he is better or as good as Nick.

And that sums up the essence of irrational, biased and unobjective thinking that makes this board as depressing and boring as it gets. People like you have already made the emotional commitment to being right about Miles sucking as a coach, and now view any suggestion or evidence to the contrary as a personal threat to their worth and value as a person. And so they spin, fabricate, selectively dismiss and otherwise bend whatever facts necessary to convince themselves that they weren't really wrong. The sad truth is that instead of wasting a great opportunity to celebrate (hypothetically) a National Championship, they will be tearing themselves up inside trying to figure out how it doesn't prove them wrong because they think that will make them somehow worthless.

Y'all should chill and just enjoy the ride, man. If you were wrong about Les, so what? Why worry about whether some anonymous yahoo on an internet message board might mock some stupid comment you made about Miles sucking when you could be enjoying a big win or a great season?

1) That's just fricking stupid.

2) Who gives a frick? Where is this huge contingent of fans trying to convince you that Miles is better than Saban?

This has to be the most popular thread topic on the board. If Les/LSU wins blank amount of games...

There are a few posters on this board who think that.

Point them out. Don't need post history, just point those posters out.

You can't do it, is what I'm saying. Because you're talking out of your arse.

Les gets the credit and the blame. It's his staff. He's in charge. That's how it works.

No it's not.

It's my opinion. I said I wouldn't want to fire him any longer. But I will never say or think he is better or as good as Nick.

Just like I will never say Urban Cryer is a better coach that Nick Saban.

Les can win me over and prove me wrong that he is "bad" coach. But he can never make me think he is a better coach than Nick.

Hard to assume that with Crowton still here.

But if LSU has a great season and wins the SEC and/or National Championship, Miles deserves all the credit in the world.

it kindof is though you're entitled to your own ill conceived method of ranking coaches.

I think Bill Belichick is a better coach than Bill Cowher, Bill Parcells, Jimmy Johnson, Mike Holmgren, Tony Dungy.

That doesn't mean I think those are bad coaches, just that Belichick is better.

Thus my point is, I will never think Les is better than Nick, no matter how many games he may win going forward.

He just said he WOULDN'T think Miles sucked as a coach. As ususal, it's a matter of degree. He thinks Miles wouldn't be as good as Saban, that doesn't mean he thinks Miles would SUCK. (your words)

We should crown you King of the Strawmen, not King Joey.
