i kn people said he wont play for congo for obvious reason but what are the realistic odds he will play for the us eventually? is it almost a sure thing? and how good do yall think he is compared to other young fowards like jozy?

I've only seen him play once or twice for Philly. Looks like a solid prospect. I'd be willing to be he gets capped with the next year or two.
Damn just averaged out his minutes played vs goals. Right now he is averaging a goal every 81 minutes of MLS play. That is pretty damn impressive for an 18 year old.

He went to high school and college in the US. Hopefully that's enough for him to consider himself American

He has refugee status, does that make him a citizen? I assume he is eligible for the US player pool, but I can't find anything where it says he is.

I think if he wants to be a citizen, he'll be granted it right away.

I'd be very disappointed if Najar and Mwanga get away. We can't let U.S. trained players get away, especially now that we have a better youth academy structure.

from what i've read, mwanga is signed, sealed, and delivered to the USNT if we don't subotic him and piss him off

Any link on that? The only areticle I've found where Mwanga discusses national team duty, he says he hopes to play for Congo one day.
The article is two years old so I wouldn't be surprised if he had a change of heart.

I agree, that was the only article I could find where he discusses national team duty.
I would love it for some one to post an article that says he's all USA.

I know this isn't everything when deciding where you want to play but Congo has been to one World Cup, and I don't know if they're going back anytime soon.

The two most exciting young player in the MLS are Congolese...Zakuani and Mwanga, we need both of them to become American.
I don't think there's any chance Zakuani does, but you have to think we have a shot with Mwanga.

The key is that both were trained into professionals outside of the Congo. Zakuani was at Arsenal for a while.
