if they just stop it up, worried the government moratorium on drilling will prevent them from getting to this site. if we keep drilling with "relief" wells it allows us t kep driling to capture oil to "save" the beaches. when the realy want to capture oil to make money

the relief well isnt going to produce oil right away if ever. it intercepts the origional well and pumps mud into it until it kills the well

then it is cemented in and PnA'd

could the top hat and pipes coming off of it not do that?

think of it this way, they intercept the well ~20,000' down then start pumping. it becomes solid heavy arse mud from 0'-20,000' thats SO HEAVY that it all sinks down into the reservoir and kills it

think of it as the pressure on a diver the further he goes down in the water

after a while it'll crush him

doing it from the top hat is like trying to put water into the tip of a free flowing air compressor hose

thats only 100# max so immagine it much bigger

Nah, I think it's to keep the gulf from getting 10X as much oil as present. Now that I think about it, it's actually in everyone's best interest to get as much oil out of this area ASAP and onto tankers. (Drill, baby, drill?)

The relief well will never produce anything, they will be plugged and abandoned after the well is killed.
