MSNBC/FoxSports Article on A&M fans and their anger...

Here it is...
----------------------------------------------
Decision Not Sitting Well With Texas A&M Fans
The saying goes that Texans like things bigger. So with this week’s public announcement by Texas A&M’s university president Bowen Loftin that his institution would forego a courtship by the Southeastern Conference to join the biggest collegiate athletic conference in the country to remain in a smaller Big 12 minus Nebraska and Colorado, needless to say it hasn’t gone over well with the Aggie faithful.
Since the announcement was released Monday evening, a firestorm of anger and criticism over the decision to stay in the modified Big 12 erupted from Texas A&M students, former students, and fans onto Loftin’s Facebook page, Internet sports information networks like Scout.com, and social networking web sites where fans and supporters congregate. More importantly for Texas A&M athletic director Bill Byrne and the 12th Man Foundation which is the fund raising arm of the athletic department, a significant group of donors have vehemently condemned the move and have threatened to cancel season tickets and remove sizeable pledges to fund upcoming capital projects including the planned multi-million dollar renovation of its baseball stadium that is scheduled to begin in the next seven months.

I wasn't making predictions. I'm just saying that the dialogue should be interesting.

As much as I want it to, nothing will come of that meeting.

So all eyes are on Saturday’s meeting and whether a face-to-face meeting with angry donors will sway Monday‘s decision.
Who is so delusional they believe this will happen?

If the fans stick together and pull their funding away, then I'm more than positive they will reconsider their actions
But the fan base, students, and alumni will need to act as a whole to get this accomplished. If they boycott the football program and watch how quickly the decision makers change their minds.

Plan on speaking your mind this weekend? Or do you know of any fellow Aggies that plan on doing so?
This does have the potential for being a interesting discussion even if no changes come out of the weekend as far as conference affiliation goes.

I'm not sure that kind of coordination will ever happen...

Actually, Byrne was a big proponent of the move to the SEC. It ultimately came from the school president, if the report I heard was correct.
I did not grow up an A&M fan, by any means. In fact, I hated them (T-shirt fans in Shreveport). But since moving to Dallas and being engaged to an Aggie, I've got a lot of respect for the school. I applaud them for the stance they are taking.
The alumni should not be pissed. The only things they are missing out on are the great tailgates, higher profile games, and if UT went to PAC -10, A&M would prosper in getting Texas recruits that didn't want to travel to the west coast every other week for games and play late night games that don't get them noticed.
Their stance in NOT going to PAC 10 was awesome and they should be given credit for being the true saviors of the Big 12. UT has been given way too much credit here, when in reality, A&M backed them into a corner.
With the dismantling the aggies took by Arkansas last year, it is clear they are not up to the level of the SEC just yet. The only games that might have been worth watching were vs Vandy and UK.

Absolutely. There will be plenty that will voice their discontent. I know several who are much larger donors than myself that could potentially pull the plug on six figure donations....
