Texas doesn't understand the idea of having a conference

Having a conference is how you make money for everybody.
Unless you are Notre Dame and have a huge nationwide religious following, you can't just expect to get more money than everybody else.
The conference you play in, the championships you play for, and your rivals within the conference are what make your team more attractive than just standing alone. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Its a simple concept, but Texas can't get it through their thick Longhorn skulls. The SEC gets it.
Notre Dame has long rivalries that are based on them being an independent. They are the only team in the country with history and rivalries and no conference.
Texas believes they are strong enough to stand alone. I hope that is what eventually happens to them. Let the Big 12-2 continue to shrink around them. Let them replace Mizzou with TCU, and A&M with Houston.
Eventually, they'll be playing a bunch of teams who don't mind being pushed around and who they truly are doing a favor for by allowing them to play the mighty Longhorns.
That unique Texas arrogance is what I was talking about when I posted a long time ago about how the SEC shouldn't pursue Texas. Their arrogance precludes them from being objective or fair. They are much more trouble than they are worth.
I'm glad that everybody got to see firsthand what Arkansas fans have known about those bastards for 40 years.
They truly believe the college football world revolves around them.
Don't mess with Texas. Its not worth it. Let them play with themselves.

If Texas would be a independent then would it be called the Alamo Conference?

No, the Alamo is in San Antonio. Everything for Texas revolves around Austin. It would just be the Longhorn Conference (or maybe the Bevo Conference).

Good analysis. Others have to see it for themselves and I think they finally have.

Alamo Conference
Closer to reality than some may realize.
They're the REAL Hotel California.
