Texas the new USC

That's how it looks to me. Texas will be like USC was befoe sanctions and Oklahoma will be the bridesmaid like California was.
Something bad will happen to Texas one day. What goes around comes back around to bite you bad. Greed turns greedier and turns in on itself to consume itself into oblivion.

road is cleared for both texas and ou to run the table more easily - but then it was never all that terribly hard in the old big 12 either

Exactly. I don't really get the whole easier path thing. Colorado never did shite and weren't really a problem. Nebraska had not been relevant for years until last season.
The Big XII will continue to be what it has for a while....Texas and OU with the winner having a good shot at the MNC.

i think recruits are gonna think twice about a weak conference with no championship game and annual games against the likes of Baylor, Iowa St, Kan, Kan St, Mizzou. UT will have to hope enough teams in the big conferences lose 2 games to be able to get into the BCS Championship game (even undefeated)

Wrong and wrong.
1. Texas is going to recruit even better (if possible). The totally dominate the landscape of the state of Texas and will sign whoever they want and barely even have to recruit them. Just offer and sign. They will be a fixture in the BCSCG which will only help.
2. Like I have said, they start out in the top 5 or so every year, go undefeated, they are a lock for the BCSCG, period.

It's simple really. If week in and week out you have to play quality teams, your chances of losing at least one game are fairly high. Look at Florida in 2008--better team than Ole Miss but Ole Miss brought their A game and Florida their C+ game and Ole Miss won. See also, LSU v. KY/Arky in 2007. See Florida v. Auburn in 2006. See LSU v. Florida in 2003. On and on.
On the other hand, if you play a bunch of vastly inferior schools and only have to get up for one or two or three games per year, that minimizes your risk of losing. See, e.g., Boise v. Oregon last year.
Texas has eliminated at least potentially one of those games--no Big XII championship. They didn't have a ton of them to begin with. But their road just got a lot more Boise-like and a lot less LSU-like. OU will be good 7 out of 8 years so that's legit. And usually one of Aggie, Missouri, Tech or OSU gives them a go. But really, they have had an easier path than the SEC champ and it got easier today when they stayed in a watered down Big X(II) instead of going to the Pac-16.

it wont matter if UT starts out in the top 5 because in the end the computers will sink them
