I'm wondering where they dig up that $10 million they have to pay to the Big 12 as well as how they balance their budget the next two years if they're getting shorted on their Big 12 revenue.

Getting shorted on Big 12 revenue is a guess more than anything, in part because other leagues have done similar things to schools which are voluntarily opting out.
At the very least, I'd expect that the Big 12 would ask ESPN to schedule Colorado as little as possible in 2011 in order to keep the TV money with the teams sticking around in 2012.
