If we just get A$M, that makes 13...how does this work

from a schedule standpoint?
I assume they will still play UT every year...
That is going to be a brutal schedule for A$M every year IMO.
Either way, the SEC is getting tougher...that puts more pressure on the coaches..

adding Wake Forest in the east. didn't you get the memo?

It has been reported that slive would be content with 13
Posted on 6/13/10 at 10:54 pm to ApexTiger
my guess would be west would have 7 teams with a&m and east 6
but they'll shoot for an even number obviously

nah, we add Florida State in the East to balance A&M in the West.

That would be unlucky though.

I don't think we add Florida State unless the SEC wanted to be a 16 team conference. I think the SEC would look for a school in a state where there is no SEC school obviously like the state of Texas. Virginia Tech, North Carolina, something like that for the east. Florida St, Miami, Georgia Tech, Clemson, those are good schools out east but I just don't think the SEC would want to go after a school where we already have programs in those states. I think for ESPN/CBS TV money and recruiting purposes that the SEC targets areas where we have no schools already in those states.

Maybe we just kick out Miss State.
Or replace them with Memphis... they are just as competitive and come with $10 mil a year

Best option IMO.

No, that rivalry is dead, after 100+ years.....
A&m had given their word, their 100% commitment, that they would move to the PAC 16 with TX, OU, Okie State, Tx Tech and Colorado. When A&M called to say they were breaking their commitment, they were told that none of those 5 former Big 12 schools would ever schedule them again in any sports unless they honored their word. A&M still picked the SEC.

With Texas doing everything they can to position their schedule for the easiest pathway to the BCSCG I see the Texas/Texas A&M game as a good thing for A&M. In a few years when they have the Texas H.S. talent pipeline in place to the SEC they will love having Texas to beat up on their way to challenging for the SECCG and BCSCG. I can't wait to see those images of Longhorn Fans crying as the Aggies Chant SEC.

God you are some whiney bitches. I don't know what y'all are going to do without having aTm around. You won't be able to say things are "aggie" anymore. The rivalry will resume in a couple years after you quit being a bunch of pussies about A&M picking a real conference instead of an easy out with 2 auto bids and no championship game.

Go cry
Everyone knows they are still going to play. A&M is just calling Texas's bluff

quote:Not sure about that. Over the last decade, A&M is 63-59 (36-46 in the Big 12). We're basically talking about another Ole Miss.
Either way, the SEC is getting tougher

My opinion: no divisions.
Four permanent rivals
Four rotating games
Top two duke it out in Atlanta
I don't think we even need divisions right now.

SEC will not leave it at 13, I look for VT to join no later than next week.
Posted on 6/14/10 at 7:33 am to xiv
not going to stop at 13.
lots of coin flipping for the 4 tied teams who didn't play each other.

quote:None in 18 years, though. If the SEC had no divisions after expansion, only three times would a tie-breaker have been used at all, and head-to-head would have solved them all.
