What is the difference in BIG12/SEC academi standards for athletes

I read something that the Big 12 was only allowed 4 partial qualifiers in a year, 2 men and 2 women. And only one per sport. And no non-qualifiers.

I had to find out just what that meant, though. Apparently, if an athlete has either a substandard GPA or SAT/ACT score, he's a partial qualifier. If he's substandard in both, he's a non-qualifier.

There's probably other ways to get around it, though, and the amount of effort schools put into it would be directly proportional to the athletic ability of the individual. A five-star prospect would get a lot of attention. A two star, something less.
