must mean the PAC-10 feels they are gonna get a MEGA TV deal. For most of those BIG VII teams traveling to California for games against Standford, Cal, USC, UCLA, then to Oregon, and Washington ain't gonna be cheap, especially for their non-football sports teams.

I just don't get it. But whatever!

Another poster accurately pointed out that the travel costs won't change all that much. They will be playing mostly the same schedule they had in the Big 12, save for maybe one game to the West coast.

That was my thought. I figured they would work it out to where they would only play maybe 1 or 2 West Coast teams....if they break up everything into 8 team divisions

A lot of people are completely missing the point about the travel costs. Of course it really isn't going to hurt football, but it will definitely hurt every other sport because they will have to travel out there. The football program and athletic department are going to be shelling out a lot more money supporting non revenue sports.

The new TV deal with the PAC 16 will more than make up the difference. Actually, if you look at it, there aren't that many sports which really travel.

For the OP, the football travel is no big deal. Every year Texas will play Colorado, OU, OSU, TT, Az, ASU and probably Kansas. 3 OOC games will probably be in or near Texas. That leaves the 2 games a year against the other Pac 16 divison, one of which is at home. That means 1 travel game a year against the far west teams.
