If you boil it all down, here's what Texas has done over the years:

- Succeeded a lot on the field
- Made a lot of money
- Made choices that optimize their money-making ability

Virtually the entire SWC cheated in the 1970's and 1980's, so you can't blame (only) UT for its dissolution; being that half the conference was made of church schools (and a single state at the end), it wasn't very viable. The SWC died a reasonable death.

Regarding the Big 12, Texas gets a bigger slice of the pie than everyone else, but everyone else in the Big 12 agreed to this deal in 1995.

Why is this the fault of Texas? Any school in their position would have done the same.

Here we are now, and Texas isn't taking any action other than answering the phone when it rings and entertaining offers.

I don't think they've done anything wrong.

they haven't done anything wrong but they like to run the show which they wouldn't be able to do in the sec.

Texas has done nothing wrong, regardless of the misplaced musings of Baloo and others.

All the conferences realize this, which is why everyone is courting Texas like it is a 16 year-old virgin.

I personally hope it comes down to Texas joining the SEC, but the PAC 10 seems to make the most sense.

It's all dependent on whether Texas wants this pile of money, this other pile of money, or that pile of money over there. Texas just has to determine which pile of money is the biggest.

and why not? Just 2 years ago Alabama was 7-6, I mean 2-6 and lost to ULM

I'm sure the thought of the Wizards 112th best offense in the NCAA would have Will Muschamp losing sleep.

Why not? Do you think Texas has inferior athletes to these schools?

Texas can compete with anyone, anytime.

Right now Texas is looking for the best suitor plain and simple.

naw, but they're soft

i would like to see UT and OU play in a conference where they weren't the only elite programs

i'd prefer the big10, because the pac10 just lost its only elite program

well if the SEC doesnt have FL and Bama, LSU would've went 11-1 last year Texas likes to be the alpha-male so the PAC 10 is the right choice IMO

Ou is going where texas goes and if ou and texas join the sec the conference is going to be brutal. I think hes just scared of the amount of elite programs in one conference

if that were true, wouldn't that be more about coaching than the quality of the athletes?

I agree with that.

Texas, OU, LSU, and Bama in the SEC west would be unfair. Might as well give the championship to Florida every year after these four destroy themselves playing each other.

"Unfair" and "hard" are not the same thing.
