And why are the powers that be in the other conferences letting this chump who was running women's tennis less than a year ago decide the fate of college football.

The Big 12 and SEC need to get proactive in this.

The Big12 is too busy choking on dicks right now

The SEC is still fine even with 12 teams

I agree only reason SEC's hand would be forced is if the 16 team conference could get 2 automatic BCS bids.......then it would warrant the SEC to make the move.

Sometimes its better to have people in charge who haven't been immersed in this nonsense for decades. They can think outside the box and make bold moves...exactly what Larry Scott did. The SEC is in a much better position than all the other conferences, except the Big Ten, which is also positioned well. The Pac 10 had to do something bold.

In terms of $$$ the big 10 is sitting well but unless they get ND and 2 more power schools they still will have an image problem.

I just don't understand the benefits of going to 16 teams. Especially considering this isn't just going to impact football, but ALL of college athletics in all sports.

The SEC and Big 12 have proven that the 12 team model is virtually ideal.

Now, these fricks from the Big 10 and Pac 10, who have been behind the curve for years, are just trying to play catchup while pretending that they are innovators, and they are going obliterate college football as we know it.

It really is a shame IMHO.

How will it obliterate it? It will actually make it more competitive.......

Imagine 4 16 team conferences..........2 8 team divisions and each divisional champ plays in an 8 team play off!

I just think the tradition of college football, regional conferences, bowl games, etc. are made it so great.

While this may make sense financially for the institutions, I think it's a shame that fans and players will lose what has made this sport so great to begin with.

If it happens as you're suggesting, it's nothing more than an NFL-lite. Nothing different to offer than the pro game.

The NCAA tournament in basketball and baseball are what makes those sports different from the pro games and make them better in some ways. But certainly different.

I just think losing the bowl system for a traditional playoff format similar to the NFL format will make college football look too similar and ultimately pale in comparison to the professional league because it won't have anything unique to offer.

Again, just MHO.

Dude the bowl system is whack you have 6-6 teams in them.........

The BCS with its computer polling and points makes it exciting.......

If you are disappointed that CFB would try to mimick its postseason after the NFL then you truely are a confused man. Think about what you are saying

You'd rather 34 not 32 bowl games with crap schools

OR an 8 team playoff with the best of the best.........do you know how intriguing and intense that would be.

There are only a handful of schools that would have a realistic shot every year to make it to that top 8. Say 25 schools TOPS.

Every other school in the country will get shite on if the bowls fold.

Sad, really.

Why do people complain about schools, players, and their families getting to enjoy a postseason atmosphere even if they play for a 6-6 team?

I mean, really, how does that impact anyone in a negative way?

Because it cause illegitimacy to the sport.....postseason honors are earned, they aren't a right.
