After the LSU basketball crap involving Kansas and Lester Earl in the late 90's, anyone laughing at Kansas' predicament now? What if Roy Williams and UNC end up in the SEC?

The basketball program alone is worth it, plus an expanded interest in the Kansas, W. Missouri area. If the whole B12 Sough goes West, the SEC will have very limited opportunity. Taking Florida State or GT would do nothing for the conference. Unlike Ole Miss and many other SEC teams, Kansas has played in a BCS football game of late.

And still, nobody wants them.

I also dislike Kansas because they "lost" my application to their pharmacy school at the last minute back in 98 - and wouldn't refund my application fee. Thieves.

Their athletic program is better than a third of the SEC programs. Someone will pick them up. Their market has little competition. Its all about the Market and Kansas would offer as much or more than Georgia Tech

Its about revenue. The SEC has limited opportunity if things play out the way it appears they will. Picking up a basketball school will be beneficial for the SEC and its national exposure. Adding Miami, GT or FSU does nothing.

The SEC is screwed for football expansion if the entire B12 South goes west. They can just add competiton in the Southeast, not market expansion. The SEC needs to move geographically, not further into the Southeast.

I would talk to Mizzou, Kansas, VT, UNC, NC State, A&M, OU as well as FSU. SEC is losing the race.

Geographic expansion, I mentioned them earlier but think UNC is a pipe dream. Culturally they fit in better with the mid atlantic group including UVA and Maryland.

I would definitely add a North Carolina team. If a full court press on UNC doesn't work, go after N.C. State. But the SEC has to expand geographically. Kansas has larger TV markets than Arkansas and has a population in K.C. that support the program. Would also press Mizzou as well.

The SEC picking up Kansas doesn't fit geographically, however it may fit athletically. The basketball program is always top notch, but the shared revenue would help their football program as well. They are probably better than Kentucky right now, but they would probably be a USCe type of program.

Remember that the BigXII doesn't share their money like the SEC does, so KU would benefit greatly and be able to upgrade their programs facilities, coaches, etc.

Most likely, with a better basketball program. Different market as well. Its all about the market.
