The Jones Act

quote:
Three days after the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico, the Dutch government offered to help. It was willing to provide ships outfitted with oil-skimming booms, and it proposed a plan for building sand barriers to protect sensitive marshlands.
this is a quote from the article below, apparently the Dutch offered vessels and dike building assistance to BP (who accepted), but our wonderful government cited the Jones Act and told them thanks but no thanks. Its a sad day when some words written on a piece of paper prevent those most qualified to help from doing so.
