Lets say that I was contacted by a national major media outlet that wants to rent some equipment from me so they can go out and broadcast live from the marshes. Now I understand that if I stonewall them they will just go somewhere else. So should I go ahead and quote the job and mark it up 300% and be a part of the evil media's plot to distort the truth, or should I shun them and prevent them from exercising their freedom of speech.

Let them rent the equipment.

I was reading on a fishing forum a few weeks back where one of the captains was making fun of some reporter for coming back everyday for a week. He would take the reporter out to where he knew there was no oil and would ride around all day looking. Go back to the launch and tell the reporter to come back tomorrow.

I know feeding to the media sounds bad but you are in business to make money. If you don't make money from them a competitor are an out of area person will make the money, so if i were you i would capitalize on the fact of knowing either a competitor or a non-local would make that money and keep it here??

Rent them the worst equipment that you have. Make them pay in advance and make sure that it breaks

Look at it this way - the media is not the problem.

They are only a nuisance spawned by the problem.

Everyone would be better off with no oil and the media still wondering how to spell grand isle or port fourchon - not to mention their inability to find them.

But that is not where we are, is it?

I say profit anyway you can.

It can't hurt LA any and just might help you and your family.

fricking. EPIC.

I agree with the "take their money" approach.

this doesn't make any sense other than just to keep the guy coming back for money. why not try to help these media people find the oil so more images and videos can get out to the public? if the state wants more help, i would think that when more information is out there, the more likely help will be to come. last report from BP was that only 20-30 acres of wetlands were affected. i would help take them out and find the oil.

The women I talked to in New York has no fricking clue. I asked her where was she wanting to go, Grand Isle or Venice and she said" I want to go wherever the oil is" So I said, well you of all people should know where the oil is being that you're the one reporting it. The she said "well, but how far offshore is it?" I told her to forget it, just tell me what she wanted to do, send me a retainer and I would set the whole trip up for her. The Sat truck is supposed to be here Friday.

Probably because she's in New York and has to deal with some jackass in Louisiana giving her a hard time while she's trying to come down here to cover the story.

Make sure that they put the game on for you Friday. Potential deal breaker if they don't.

You should go. I'll get Chicken to send you a TD t-shirt if you wear it while standing behind the camera and waving.
