sad part is that it takes about 20 - 24hrs to run the damn riser to the bottom.

putting an explosive at 5000 ft would be like putting a fire cracker in a closed 55 gallon drum.
not to mention what the oil companies would have to hear from the greenies once the dead fish, killed from the explosion, wash up on the shore.
