They've kinda confirmed the Island is Purgatory in a way with the Whispers. They aren't just going to point blank state it.
And yes I agree, Jacob and MIB should have been the God and the devil.
Interesting.
Universal Truths, the greatest stories and myths all try to capture them, are concrete. That's why they are eternal. That's why something like King Lear will never go away. Ever.
The more you cloud the message with uncertainty, the more your message is Lost.

God did not make it. Calm down the hyperbole.

we feel like we didn't make lost, we feel like it was just out there, paraphrasing those 2 douchenuggets

i just laughed at the montage, made a mocking post in the main thread, and everybody was talking about how great it was
man it's like people just refuse to believe this show fell off and they accept blindly what happened as the show deteriorates
that scene sucked, it's nothing compared to the emotional scenes of the early show

let me get this straight
they create an alternate dimension so that the characters we actually care about can interact again
then
while in this alt universe, they use the finale to flash back to all the scenes in the past that had great emotional impact, so that we re-live it again (because the show has fricked itself to badly they can't create scenes like this on its own anymore)
ALL THE WHILE, the main storyline (or what has become of the main storyline) plods along on the island
somebody correct me if i'm wrong

That's a really good point, and one might argue was the only way to keep people emotionally invested and watching for the whole season. Never thought about it like that.

i made my comment before not fully understand, but after the charlie scene i was blown away
yeah that shite was emotional...when they did it 4 years ago
the main story on the island is ridiculous enough, but this alt universe is just...redundant

The whole show has been self-reflective.
Which tells me, we started the show not knowing where they were. That's probably where we'll end it.

there is no way they could have planned for the entire point of the show being jacob vs MIB even in season 4

No this is possible. Jacob and MIB were most likely God and the Devil originally

you see i think when they distanced from purgatory and went fully for the jack/lock :: reason/faith line, they put all the eggs on that basket. they're essentially skipping over that and jumping right to the MIB-Jacob fight (which is about the same)
locke was just kind of...disposed of...in season 5 (when they jumped into the jacob-MIB storyline)

They did but they didn't. This episode is clearly building towards some acceptance of personal fates.

End of the finale is all the island and people being figments of Walts imagination.

they have gotten to hooked on the jacob-MIB bullshite and the alternative emo-verse that they've completely failed to answer any overriding questions
so basically they completely change the show in its last 1/3, and then just build toward the climax of that storyline
THEY ARE IGNORING THE PAST AND THEN USING IT OVER AGAIN FOR EMOTIONAL EFFECT. frick. GODDAMN WHY CAN'T PEOPLE SEE THIS?

I see it don't worry. Just withholding for now

i think the lost-tards have turned on the finale in the last 20 minutes

A little, I want to see what they do before I comment this time. But I see what you're saying. It's what the whole season has been.

holy shitballs the emo-verse was purgatory, but the island was "real"
the whole jacob-MIB story meant nothing..hell, pretty much the entire show meant nothing
