Wedding or Tennessee game?

One of my best friends is getting married on the same day as the Tennessee game. We are in our mid 30's and it is a Justice of the Peace type wedding. Only about 50 guests. It is six months away and he told me that it was on that day. I have not missed a home LSU football game since 1992. I even had a scheduled birth for my son so it did not unexpectedly fall on a home game. What should I do? I already told him that he was dumb for scheduling it that day, but he said it is too late.

Do I tell him now or come up with some excuse the day before the game?
"My kid has a runny noise, sorry, I can't make it!"
Will that work?

No, honesty will work. Tell him the real reason. The excuse will look like an excuse.

tell him now and tell him that he was a shitty inconsiderate friend if he really expected you to miss a football game and tell him that he should think about calling it off bc the girl has his balls if she picked the date

No REAL friend would EVER, EVER schedule their wedding during football season, period!

I guess I will just break the news now and list the 7 home dates telling him that I am unavailable these days.
I would just be pissed the whole wedding day if I was there anyway.
To make it worse...CBS will probably pick up the game at 2:30 and the wedding is at 3:00.

its his own damn fault. this game was in place a long time before the wedding. no excuses for scheduling a wedding on a game day unless you want no friends to show up

If that friend REALLY has any balls, he would tell his fiancé that the wedding will be either before or after football season- that should solve the problem at hand!
Sincerely,
Dr Phil

if he is a true friend he will understand why you will not be at the wedding.

Who the frick are these douchebags that do this? Seriously?
I'd have a serious problem with that.

Go to the game. If this woman can make him get married on the date of an LSU home game she will also make his life miserable! The marriage is doomed from the start. When they break up next year you'll hate yourself if you dont go to the game.
Tell him when they break up youll take him to a home game to help console his misery.

If he is really one of your beat friends then he'll realize the situation you're in and will understand why you won't be there.
