LINK

this link says the well was going into a deposit which is under unusual pressure. after the initial wrong info about the rig falling onto the well site, erased, there is some interesting info from a Shell employee about the deposit, which is apparently mostly natural gas. The deposit is said in this article to be ENORMOUS.

are the 4 recommendations sensible?

This guy is a complete fricking idiot and has no clue as to what he is talking about.

ABS inspects any rig world wide that is classed under them. The flag means nothing it's for financial reasons they don't US flag these rigs.

I could go on but why bother. I've seen this guys gloom and doom on other sites.

No shite.

Coast Guard and MMS can board any rig or platform at anytime. The flagged country means nothing. Unannounced inspections happen all the time.

Although there could be I am not aware of any American flagged MODU.

Stopped reading there.

I get enough sensationalist crap lacking perspective with reality on these boards.

It puts the oil spill in further negative light, therefore it must be true.

I'm sure all the leaseholders within this 25000 sq mile area around the well are glad to hear that there is the mother of all deposits on their lease but equally baffled as to how they have never found it!!

And don't forget that common fricking sense tells you that the acoustic shutdown would not have made a difference here, and yet he suggests it as a required control

The lesson that I've learned from this event is to never underestimate people's inability or unwillingness to take a minute and actually try to understand something that is normally outside of their realm.
