Basil is my favorite, love capri salads and pesto. Most herbs come from the Mediterranean and grow in poor soil, well drained and sunny is important.

Dill is also a favorite, but thyme, parsley, rosemary is a perennial evergreen, and most other herbs are easy to grow. Use them generously and you will never want to cook without them.

Instead of trying to start from seed, go to La. Nursery and buy the plants and just stick them in a pot or garden.

Basil is one of the few that do well from seeds.

I bought a few plants this year ... lazy

Suddenly I have basil coming up all over the garden from last year that went to seed..

I even found Lemon basil coming up in the grass near the garden.

Most herbs are easy to grow if the get plenty of sun and water..
