I have 13 DVDs in my queue, and am supposed to have 5 shipped out today but am getting this message in the shipping section for all 5:
quote:The expected availability is Now on all DVDs in my queue. Has anyone experienced this problem? Thanks
We will send your next available DVD as soon as possible.

They're fricking with you.
Are they new releases? Netflix will definitely try to "slow you down" in regards to those no matter what the availability is.

Call or email them about it. I can almost guarantee you that they give you a free rental for your inconvenience. They hand them out like candy over there.

Got that message yesterday on there but I also got an email saying that they shipped my movie
Might just be a glitch in the matrix or something.

That is the message that is shown until they actually send your DVDs out. They will ship today but just haven't yet.

No kidding. I had Zero Hour! on my queue (the movie Airplane was a spoof of) and they didn't have it at the local place, so as it would take a couple days to send it from somewhere else they went ahead and sent me the next item on my queue, giving me more movies than I'm supposed to have out at any one time. They certainly do customer service better than Blockbuster ever did, maybe why they flourish while Blockbuster dies.

This happened to me before. I am on the 1 DVD plan. I had one at home and the next day I get Almost Famous in from somewhere in Oregon. It was pretty cool.

Netflix system is computer based and operates by scanning the bar codes on the movie envelopes. Note that the bar code shows through the envelope when you send it back. Each bar code shows where that particular movie is supposed to be.
So in the morning, the return envelopes are scanned and the movies are removed from the customers' queue. That's when you get the message you referred to. By the end of the day, new movies are sent out and the bar code for those movies are entered into to reflect in the "at home" section. Bottom line - it's like a float on a checking account and is only a temporary thing.
And yes - Netflix will intentionally slow down the shipment of movies to slow down your use. Postage is their biggest operating expense. So if you're creating too much activity (generating too much postage expense), they'll hold back on sending out new movies. Just lie when they send out the surveys about how long it takes for movies to arrive.
