So I am back -
I liked reading the predictions. Seems there are two camps:

Optimists who think LSU will do better because of experience in key spots and new talent in others.

Pessimists who think that LSU will have a lack of experience and lost the few real talented players she had.

I still think that LSU's QB play is better than advertised. Jefferson had good numbers, but got zero help from his O-line and running game. Plus, it was his first year under center as a starter. I really think he will improve.

I worry about the O-line and D-line. Not much there last year, and no obvious reason to think they will be a lot better. I really hope I am wrong here, because if not, 6-6 is likely.

Wide Receivers are big, fast and can't catch. Hopefully Miles will get this fixed by the fall, but who knows.

Forgot my optimistic prediction...

If LSU gets the O-line and D-line going, then the running game should follow, and with that the passing game will really open up. No guarantee that the WR's can catch passes, but even if they drop everything, a working running game will leave JJ open to scramble and get first downs. Obviously the D-line does not directly affect the running game, but a tough D-line will keep the other teams offense off the field, and that will benefit the LSU running game.

In this case I predict LSU goes 10-2, misses the SEC Championship Game anyway, and goes to the Cotton Bowl.

To be fair, Toliver has had a cast on his hand and Randle has shown he has strong hands. Shepard could use some work with catching, but he's still learning the position.

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear that the box scores I read may not indicate the level of performance in the fall. Here's hoping that health will cure the problem.

That's the spirit. Let's hope you are right. If Butler can turn the NCAA basketball tournament upside down, why can't LSU go undefeated in 2010?

No! Just saying, in an unpredictable sports world, maybe LSU will exceed expectations next year.

I do not like doing these, but some of these are crazy. LSU has recruited as well as anybody the course of the last few years. That should be transpired this season. If this team goes 6-6, then our coaches are just morons-truly morons. There is too much talent on this team. Recruiting classes may be subjective, but year-after-year of top 10 classes should be inducive of a top team.

vs. UNC - 27-17 Win
@ Vandy - 31-10 Win
MSU - 38-17 Win
UWV - 27-24 Win
UT - 24-10 Win
@ Fla - 10-24 Loss
McNeese - 45-3 Win
@ Auburn - 20-21 Loss (hostile, looking ahead to BAMA and revenge for them)
UA - 24-23 Win (revenge after last season, the previous week and Miles to Saban)
ULM - 35-10 Win
UM - 31-13 Win (they have beaten us twice in a row and they are less talented)
@ Ark - 28-26 (with the West on the line, the Tigers take control early and this time stop the tying two-pointer inside the last minute)

SECCG vs. Florida 27-20 (LSU plays inspired football down the stretch of the season and force four UF turnovers including a PP pick-six.)

Sugar Bowl Bowl Berth

This has a 2001 feel to it IMO. Revenge games galore, unproven players and coaching match-ups. Miles is going to be tested this year like never before. I feel a poor start WILL be the end of Miles as losses to UNC, MSU, VANDY, etc. could spiral the season like DiNardo's final year.

Just my two cents. LSU goes 12-2, wins the SECCG and plays in the Sugar Bowl.

Note - some of these scores are slanted more than some may think. I feel turnovers created by the defense will be much greater in Chavis' second season. I think with the play of our secondary we will be a national leader in turnover differential. This allows for the offense to play on short fields, take more shots and increase productivity, in turn, increasing confidence.

I see 10-2 also, but beating UF and losing to WV (not so bad).
I think MSU will play us close and UNC may take us to the wire. UT will be interesting with Chavis at LSU (no, they haven't forgotten).
Les has his naughty list and his nice list to address, and if he plays his cards right, we'll keep him.
Otherwise, all bets are off.

when people such as yourself keeping saying this you lose a whole lot of credibility.
Oline and rbs could say the same thing about JJ
All three have to flow together to be productive, and we arent/dont.

(Chris Graythen/Getty Images)The storm clouds are gathering over Baton Rouge. Just three years removed from a national championship, Les Miles is taking heat—a lot of heat—from the LSU faithful. An 8-5 season in 2008 was followed up by a 9-4 mark in 2009, and down on the bayou, that just doesn’t cut it. Though Miles continues to recruit well, all of that “speed” he’s brought in doesn’t seem to be doing him any good. Quarterback Jordan Jefferson is talented but wildly inconsistent, and the Tigers’ offense has been mediocre at best since 2007. In the SEC, ‘Bama is known for crushing defense and Florida is known for innovative offense. As for LSU? Well, these days, they’re known for nothing. Except maybe underachievement.

I say 9-3 or 8-4. I don't see the two ooc games being as hard some are making them out to be but once again poor qb play will be our downfall in the sec. I am going to say we lose to UF,Bama, and Auburn. Miles may be coaching for his job at War Memorial.

I can honestly see a 14-0 season ahead of us.

1. UNC - The UNC game is not going to be a hard one, and we always seem to come out strong in the first game, not to menchion we are representing the SEC as a whole that game, not going to drop that one.

2. Vandy - LSU is too strong and fast for Vandy, except it will be closer than it has been in the past.

3. Miss St. - First game at home, great atmosphere, better team = easy win.

4. WVU - I think we come in over prepared, thinking we're going to see a powerhouse, but in reality WVU will not be what everyone will hype them up to be. Another easy win, and now gaining national exposure with this win. WVU = Va Tech in '07.

5. Tennessee - I feel as though we will come into this one very ready too. This may not be our first tough game, but our first tough conference game at home, and I can't see us dropping one to Dooley in his first stint in Death Valley. Not even close.

6. UF - Redemption. Toss up, really. But by this point in time, every player knows his role and we're in rhthym. Chavis lets the dog out of the cage, and consistent running play will give us a win with a rattled Brantley.

7. McNeese - Homecoming? Not sure, but easy win. Can we see some Chris Garrett in this one please?

8. Auburn - Aubie still doesn't scare me. In the worst offensive season I've ever seen from LSU, we put up 31, and shut them out last year. I don't see a leap from Auburn that can go from 31-0 to beating a much bigger and more physical LSU team, even with homefield advantage. Although Chizik did a great job recruiting, that won't affect the game anymore than usual. Crowd will be an issue, but Ford, Ridley, and Murphy chipping away will do the deal in Auburn.

9. Bama - After the bye week, we're rested up, and the talk is high. Two undefeateds going at it for the SEC championship. I think the crowd wins it for LSU, and we win by a thread by a PP pick six.

10. U-L - Enough said.

11. Ole Miss - Not going to sneak by us this year. This is our year, and I have a feeling the cocky Leslie will come back out, and not let us mess this one up. I think Jefferson shows he has matured in this one, by lighting their backfield up with the help of Randle and Toliver.

12. Arky - Our defense will be much faster, and by the end of the year, be much more experienced and ready for any challenge. The good thing is, the best offense the defense will see is the last game of the regular season. I see 4 int's by our defense, great running game, and special teams doing the trick, closing out to a perfect regular season.

13. SEC Championship (S Car) - Spurrier's back in it. The cocks finally lived up to the hype. But LSU will come ready, and their post season dominance will come alive again. The polished running game and defense will be our motto, and lead us to the National Championship for the 3rd time in a decade.

14. BCS National Championship Game (Ohio St.) - Ohio St. and their cupcake schedule will make it there again, and will have no shot for the speed and strength of LSU again. The running game will be stalled, but Jefferson will have wide open looks by the 2nd quarter, and LSU will roll by the bucks to be the 1st school with 3 BCS trophys.

Although this seems like a dream, one little thing goes wrong and this whole fantasy I have of a National Champiosnhip goes tumbling. Let's hope Jefferson can mature, and the running game stays solid along with our defense.
