Clemson recruits asks for release from LOI

This is part of the Oliver Purnell to DePaul fallout. LSU is one of many schools that Thornton will consider. This is an extremely long shot, in my opinion.

He is a 3-star power forward, 6-7, 215.

I thought you were likening another player to Thornton.

But you really meant a "Marcus Thornton."

too bad we're not in on the next Matt Flynn too!

quote:

Longwood Lyman quarterback Matt Flynn, a former teammate of Marmetschke at Lake Mary, is also looking into a similar path to college football. Flynn has been invited to junior-day visits from Ivy League institutions Princeton, Columbia and Brown.

Kentucky is now getting in on him. Cal recruiting a 3-star? What is this world coming to!

He must be getting some bad news from his other big targets.

Yea, the bad news is he ran out of money with last years recruits, did not win the title, and is shorthanded for this year.

I hope he can play like Marcus Thornton did.

This kid is extremely good. Would be a monster pickup for Trent if he was able to lock him up. He has been extremely low-balled by recruiting services as a 3 star.

It will be very interesting to see if he signs somewhere else. ESPN just reported that Clemson hired Brad Brownell to replace Oliver Purnell. Not a huge hire but some are saying he's likely to retain the lead recruiter for Thorton. If so, then he'll sign with Clemson. If not, then it's anyone's game.

With the commitment of Hamilton, I don't think LSU is in the running for Thornton any longer. No scholarships.

Would be somewhat ironic (if we land Thornton), since we lost Noel Johnson to Clemson at the last minute during the 2009 Spring bb signing period.

I think Noel Johnson had a decent Freshman campaign for Clemson.
