Les is correct - nothing wrong with use of "want"

Yes, it is quirky and different, but logically and linguistically, his use of the term "want" or "the want" is spot on.
In fact, it adds emphasis as opposed to just the use of desire or "an inclination towards", etc...
It means "great desire".
A Tiger is a wild animal that has a need and a great desire....
Quirky or not, it is fitting my friends.
I hated it at first, but have grown to like it, as it means something far more than what appears on the surface
It is a fiery need and great desire....That is what we want from our Bengal Tigers !

Problem is, he's using these statements around the football players. These guys don't have a clue as to what he's saying.

Les is either:
A) a redundant idiot who's beginning to sound more and more like Commandant Lassard from "police academy"
B) a philosophical genius who hides deeper meanings behind words like "want"
sorry, but I have to go with A.

Same here. I actually started putting it in some of my memos.

There is nothing wrong with using "want" as a noun, but Miles makes "want" the object of the sentence instead of the object of a preposition. That's the least common use of the word and why it sounds awkward.
It's a unique character trait that's forgettable when we are winning. I like saying it too sometimes.

I think someone could make some money with a line of "The Want" t-shirts.

Miami is "The U". LSU can be "The W" while Miles is here.

The Want t-shirt #1:
Frontside:
LADIES—I HAVE THE WANT ...
Backside:
WOULD YOU RELISH THE OPPORTUNITY?
Hell, I'd wear that into a bar. After I had like 7 or 8 shots of Johnny Red.

You slap a photo of Les on that shirt and you'll be a millionaire son.

He talks like Bo did. At least based upon the few Michigan videos I've seen on HBO and ESPN Classic.

Except when it is used as an acceptable substitute for actually doing whatever it is we have the "want" to do.

hopefully you have the want deep-seeded within as Tiger...
It should be part of Big Les's recruitment pitch (or maybe it is already)
Big Les: "Son, tell me about your want. How much want do you have in you?"
