Dinardo: ND pedigree, OC on a MNC team at Colorado, SEC Coach of the Year at Vandy and he was a great talker/salesman when the University had been stung by Coach Cro-Magnon Hallman

Dinardo was a great recruiter and he had his best seasons when he had legit Coordinators on his staff. OC Morris Watts and DC Carl Reese were pretty highly regarded.

however Dinardo was a meddler and he and Carl Reese got into it in the 97 season and Reese went to Texas. Dinardo replaced him with Tepper and that didnt work too well.

Dinardo got into it with Morris Watts and Watts left for Michigan State. Dinardo replaced him with WR Coach Bob McConnell, but in reality Dinardo was his own OC and it didnt work.

A prominent former player told me once that GerryD had an epic meltdown in the locker room at Arky at the end of 98. He became completely paranoid and irrational in the 99 season and basically fell apart emotionally as the team collapsed around him. LSU lost to Houston at home, fired Dinardo and that was that.
