if jai starts i could see it being something where he bumps down to nickel and loston goes to FS when the offense brings in a 3rd receiver.

According to Lazarre's info, Loston has a looong way to go mentally to see the field as a starter.

Great athlete but it may take longer than we all would like.

I think Jai is a better tackler than Brandon Taylor...so i would prefer him back there at safety. But i think Karnell Hatcher is better than both and he would be my first choice to start opposite Loston.

Why do you think that? Im not arguing with you but if memory serves me right, they both rap up pretty good

Based on what i've seen as far as the pursuit angles that they take, and the positions that they put themselves in to make the tackle. Jai is better in pursuit/putting himself in position to make the tackle. Glaring example (although he was shoved by the offensive lineman): Julio J's touchdown in the Alabama game.

This bothers me. This seems like a huge problem with us. I've seen so many examples where we say young guys aren't ready yet, don't know the playbook, etc. Is this just as big a problem at other schools as it is here? Do our coaches not pay enough attention to the younger guys if they're not starting in trying to progress them to the level of mental preparedness. Whats the deal?

I think Jai is better suited to play Safety than CB and hopefully will make a smooth transition to the position. B Taylor looked pretty solid last year. I think they would give us a pretty formidable starting combo with Loston and Hatcher providing good competition for the starting spots.

That's what spring and fall practice are for.
