Combine: Who's new that stirred your interest as a possible Saint?

for me:
I could see 3rd or 4th Rd value. Develop him to replace Shockey in another year.
Jimmy Graham
Height:
6'6"
Weight:
260 lbs.
Graham is a very raw tight end that left the basketball team to turn out for football in time for the 2009 season. He is extremely athletic and has a huge upside but still needs a ton of technique work from running routes to blocking. He is not restricted in his routes and shows a good burst coming out of his breaks to separate from defenders but at the same time struggles to get off the line vs. good press linebackers. He shows strength when going for the ball in a crowd as well as flashes of strength as a blocker but can be sloppy in his footwork when he needs to adjust on the move when blocking in space. He has received comparisons to Tony Gonzalez who played football and basketball at Cal but he is not as developed as Gonzalez was at the same stage. He still needs to shed the basketball work ethic he came with.

VERY intrigued by this dude...Brees could make him a superstar if he worked hard. Shockey would definitely take another Cane under his wing.

I was gonna mentioned him too.
Gehart has looked great. But i think he's bumped himself up to the early second round, maybe late 1st. Too early for the Saints to take a RB.
Joe Mckight looked good as well. He'd be a steal in the 3rd, imo
There's a tall mid round WR that looked good too. Cant remember his name though

Jarrett Brown just doesn't look like a Payton sort of project kid to me. No 5th Rd pick but he might be value enough to take at 6 or 7 regardless.
and mai cher where you be buy your boudin? on hopkins street?

that's not all you can buy on Hopkins Street.

Graham is full of potential and would love to see what he could do in this offense.
Just don't see how he ends up on this team.
Mario Hardesty's #'s were pretty eye-popping.

huh? not being smartass but why couldn't he be drafted if he was at a spot they considered good value (3rd Rd maybe, 4th more likely)?

He may still be there in the 3rd, I just don't see the Saints pulling the trigger on him in the 3rd with so many other needs.
After that combine though, I expect him to go sometime in the 3rd before the Saints pick, especially since our 3rd is the last pick of that round.

outstanding value trumps need everytime, Saints have been very faithful to their board. Looks like he could still be quite a wildcard as to when he's drafted considering how terribly raw he is. I could see 4-5 as well as 2nd.

He had a great combine, good 40, only dropped 1 ball during the gauntlet, excellent size, etc
If the Saints use their 2nd on him then we can have him. After that it's a crap shoot with the odds against the Saints getting him IMO.
As for value over need, our value for him would be in the future. The second he is drafted he would be at least 3rd on the depth chart and need to contribute on special teams to be of value right away. Is he willing to do that? I guess during the interviews if the Saints are interested they will find out

If Saints go TE, I liked what I saw from the kid at BYU. A little undersized, but he ran the best TE time and also moved the weights around pretty good.

- I just don't see his value etched in stone quite so definite.
I meant value relative to his placement on your big board.
As far as playing time, Shockey's injury record suggests having a playmaker TE available would be prudent.

PS, I was looking forward to seeing Gresham but he only diminished any thought I had of him as a possible 1st Rd sleeper pick.

6'6 260 with a 4.5 40? I do see him as third round pick, but hey there is a reason why I'm here and not in Indy.
I just think he will be one of those guys teams talk themselves into. You know the old saying "you can't teach height"? Think that will apply to him
Some team will look at his rawness and view it as a positive along with his measureables which are 1st round.

If we're talking TE and Combine, we need to look at Dorin Dickerson from Pitt
6'4, 230, 4.40, #1 in bench reps, #1 overall in verticle, #2 in broad, #3 in 3 cone, #3 in 20 yd shuttle
a pure combine freak and he had a great senior bowl. First team all american by the football writers association.
I know we still need players on D, but if he's there at 32, I would love to see him learn from thomas and shockey for a yr and then take over.
eta: i have no idea where he's projected.
he just gets me stoked thinking about him stretching the middle of the field.

I like Dorin too, but fyi he measured in like 3 inches shorter than the 6'4 you've got.
Still if the Saints rolled the dice on him, I think he would be a weapon Payton could get a lot of use out of.

Dickerson 4th-ish round, most project him more as an H back-fullback similar to Richard Dixson
some blurb on him:
Tremendous pass catching tight end coming off a great season. Poor ht/wt numbers will limit the number of systems he can play in.
Dickerson’s a versatile talent with the size to be an effective NFL fullback or H-back. Is a fierce competitor who gives a consistently high level of effort. Is athletic to play some college wide receiver and figures to be capable of making some plays out of the backfield at the next level.
Is not a refined prospect after playing three positions at Pitt. Did not consistently produce at a high level in college. Does not display the in-line blocking ability to be an every down tight end. Didn’t show the top end speed to challenge defenses up the seam.

and one more,
Aaron Hernandez, he looks like a Dallas Clark clone to me. Maybe not a value pick at #32 but gone by #64 IMO.

I thought he skipped most of the big drills like 40?
What did he do that stirred your interest?
