From his first solo album Stephen Stills 1970 (LINK )

The lyrics are self explanatory

My guess after seeing and hearing the song are he's wearing an LSU Jersey

Old Times Good Times lyrics
(Stephen Stills)

When I was young and needed my time alone
Jump in the pirogue, pole down the Bayou
Bogafalaya River was dark and cold
Seven years old, I couldn't find my way home

chorus:
Old times, good times
Old times, good times

When I was twelve, I learned how to play the guitar
Got myself a job in a jax beer bar
Got myself together, went to New Orleans
Found myself workin' for rice and beans

chorus:

New York City was so damned cold
I had to get out of that town before I got old
California, rock and roll dream
Got too high and we blew our whole scene
But we had a good time

chorus (x2)

Played the Cow Palace in the late 60's as a member of Buffalo Springfield. Also on the show were Strawberry Alarm Clock and The Beach Boys. Great show. Seems like forever ago.

He also has some Louisiana connections with Covington, LA. One of his songs mentions the Bogue Falaya River.

"Long May You Run" (co-written with Neil Young) mentions the Blind River as well.

It's an LSU jersey. He wore either that one or another one for a pic on a CSN album as well. I'd have to dig it out to see the title but it's the one with Suite Judy Blue Eyes, the song dedicated to Judy Collins who he was dating at the time.

I don't know--that's a pretty weird LSU jersey Steve is wearing.

Okay, I admit I hadn't seen it for a long time. Maybe I'm thinking of the other album. My bad. Remember I'm just a senile old fart!

Interesting. When I was in high school, I heard he attended East Jefferson - and may or may not have been kicked out. To get the boot at Jesuit is one thing, getting expelled from EJ takes real dedication.

It is an LSU jersey. I remember when it happened. Steve Ward wore 41 in the early 60's I had one of his old jerseys. He was a FB who never lost a yard in his career. In the mid 60's Mike Vincent (all-american LB) wore it. He's a dentist in BR.
