the dodgers don't plan on signing him next year. he needs to put up big numbers in order to have another team sign him.
therefore, he won't hurt the dodgers by putting up big numbers. he can only help them.

manny has no leverage on the dodgers. they don't want to sign him.
he did that shite in boston when he was trying to get extensions/more money within his 8 year deal. his contract is up and he knows he needs to produce to get signed somewhere else.
ETA: when he came back from the 50 game suspension, he was hitting well. he started to suck after he got hit on the hand in july.

I personally think he's piece of shite, and a bad investment for any general manager at this time.
