I can't remember who it was but somebody said that was the first REAL fb game Joe Theisman ever played in!
Btw, the original pronunciation of his name was "Theesman" and he, along with ND, changed it to rhyme with "Heisman".

One interesting aspect of that game was that Notre Dame went into the game undefeated and ranked #2. Even though they won, they fell to #4 after the game.
The Tigers went into the game with one loss, ranked #7. After losing they rose to #6.

I know Coach Parsegian stated later was his fondest game because he had never been in such a tough defensive game. Too bad the drop by Tommy!
