An Elite QB Is A Must

Most football fans will tell you that the Quarterback is the most important position. The same could be said for recruits. Recruits often look at the depth chart for a school not only at their position but the QB as well. Especially on the offensive side of the ball. From skill positions to offensive lineman the lack of big name recruits at the position could really start to hurt LSU on and off the field. They have to get that guy this year.
Thats why I think the most important position for the Tigers in this years class is QB. If Lee goes the baseball route than it becomes even more vital. My first choice is Teddy Bridgewater. Anyone that has seen this kid play will tell you first off that he is a winner. His athleticism is undeniable drawing questions as to which position he will play in college. The fact is he wants to play QB and it's hard to argue.
Therefore I feel the biggest and most important name on our board is Teddy Bridgewater.
Now the thought going around is that Miami is the one to beat. I don't believe this to be true. Teddy has said things such as "I want to create my own legacy" and "I would be completely open to leaving Florida."

Damn. Pretty accurate throwing on the run. His athleticism is impressive but he's gonna have to learn to avoid contact at the next level or his head is gonna come off.
I would be ecstatic if LSU could manage to bring this kid in. Do you know if he is getting attention by our staff at this point?
Also thanks for all your info on this board thus far jimmyd. Its nice to have so many individuals with some info on this board to give the rest of us a clue on whats going on.

Who is number 15 in that video?

I think a big, smart, pro-style is important to LSU, not necessarily an elite QB.
They've won before and put up big numbers with the former so...

film looks a lot like... dare i say... russell shepard with a bigger frame and slightly less wiggle. the difference is that bridgewater has the body of a college quarterback along with the skills. looks like a top prospect. hopefully we can be a player in recruiting him

Would make this class one of the all-time greats.
He wouldn't break our program, but he would set it up for continued success.

This.... But who are we kidding. Has Crowton ever coached a pro-style QB, besides JL?

Don't think LSU is what Bridgewater is looking for. He wants a more pro style system. Haven't really read anything about him being that interested in LSU right now either.
Read he likes Georgia...guess that kinda makes sense considering the system they run and its pretty close to home.

That's where you are wrong...for this class.

IMO, Bridgewater is almost a lock to go to Da U. Dude is a Jacory Harris clone and fits perfect in their offensive scheme, not to mention Miami is the best football team in his home state now. But I agree, if Lee goes to the MLB a good backup will be needed for Chris Garrett.

I still like Marquis Williams more.Sad thing is that Miami could get both.Bridgewater is being recruited at wr by most. They are probably telling him qb or at least a shot but wr is the place most feel he fits.I'd take him either way.i just like Williams better.

history has shown us what we need to win NC's...
Matt Mauck and Matt Flynn types
I don't see Jefferson leading us to another unless he improves dramatically.
Maybe Garrett can get it done.
Time will tell

With the stout o-line it appears we will have in the future Garrett will have tools Jefferson has not been blessed with.

2003 (2600 yards) and 2007 (2998 yards) were our 2 highest rushing totals for the decade as a team.
Last year (1596 yards) was our worst since 1999.

TigerCorp couldn't be any more correct! The QBs that have taken LSU all the way are not the million-dollar-arm-and-five-cent-head types: see Jamarcus Russell. Is it coincidence that, e.g., Michael Vick never took the Gobblers to the Promised Land? Those types rarely, if ever, do. Matt Mauck and Matt Flynn were NOT anywhere close to being the best "athletes" on the field, but they were SMART and TOUGH. The next BCS Championship that LSU wins will have Chris Garrett taking the snaps ... then maybe another one with Zack Lee ... and, hopefully, another one with Justin Worley (2011) under Center.

So i guess a few are arguing that a top flight QB isn't that important to success? Better yet, having a "game manager" is what we need instead of a stud? I must say i disagree. Can you win with Matt Flynn and so on? Of course you can. But, to be an elite program and maintain that consistent level of success you HAVE TO get top level QBS.
USC:Palmer, Booty, Leinhart,Sanchez.
Compare our QBS during the same time frame and tell me you want Matt Flynn.
Florida=Tebow
Texas=McCoy
Who dropped off this year? Oklahoma lost Bradford. Georgia had Joe Cox nough said. USC started a freshman.
Don't know guys...

LSU has 4 QBs on the roster. Two are Jrs., one sophomore, and one redshirt freshman. And, possibly one true freshman. That's five if Lee doesn't play pro baseball.
We will probably have 20 or fewer scholarships to offer in this class (2011).
Idiotic statement based on your "want" of a great QB.
Apparently, you don't know the difference between wants and needs.
No one is arguing that great QBs are not nice to have and that you don't have a better chance to win a championship with one.
However, Perrilloux was a great QB and prospect QB. Potential, promise, and talent often don't manifest themselves into championships.
That's life in college and pro football.

McElroy wasn't that good. McCoy was. I'd rather have a solid running game and a game manager QB.
We have one 2 SEC championship games and the peach bowl with backup QBs.
yeah, it'd be nice to have an elite QB, but we don't need one to win.
our QB wasn't the problem this year, it was our inability to run.

WHoooaaa fruitcake. Calm down a little huh? I feel quite comfortable with what i know. Do you know what I know? What do you know that I don't know? I don't know my friend...Do you?
I know that you feel threatened quite easily. I know that a different opinion than yours is unacceptable. I know you and daddy share a dirty little secret. I know that we will take a QB regardless! You act as if we walk away without a QB this year. NEVER! Take your guy i'll take mine.
