It didn't really get a lot of attention at the box office, but if you think about it, it has so much going for it. A solid lead, a villain you absolutely despise, an epic scale story set in a larger than life setting over many years. It's really great.

Agreed. It's pretty strange that the star power and familiar (famous) storyline didn't get much hype, but that probably helped it in the end...
