Last Night Decided The League MVP

Manning vs Brees. Finished one, two in the MVP voting.
I find it kind of hard to even argue a case that Manning deserves the MVP now.
Brees had better overall stats and showed him up in the head to head job.
As Sean Payton said.... "our league MVP; Drew Brees!"

Emeril was on ESPN this morning and said when the Saints were trying to get Brees he called him and told him he'd cook for him any time if he played on the Saints. I think after tonight he's getting freebies from EL for life.

I guess it depends on your interpretation of what the MVP should mean. Tonight didn't change the fact that Manning took a team with a lot of relative unknowns to a Superbowl.

If Texas fans can claim the 05 Heisman for Vince Young based on the BCS CG, I think Saints fans can claim the MVP for Drew based on tonight

The Saints don't exactly have a bunch of Superstars

frick that, last 2 weeks, I've heard nothing but how the Colts WR and RB's were better than the Saints. If the peyton unkowns, Drew had....I can't think of something but you get the point

MVP is a regular season award. The Colts had a new coach, and lost a few assistant coaches because of the pension stuff I believe. The Colts finished with a better record than the Saints. I have no problem with Manning as the MVP, as long as the Saints still have the Superbowl title

I agree with that, it will stick in my craw though that Peyton got it for taking "unkowns" to a 1 game better than the Saints record and with no running game

Who the frick thinks that the Colts WRs/RBs are better than the Saints'? The Colts have no running game and some new guys stepping up at WR. The Saints have three good RBs and a better overall group of WRs/TEs. The Colts have the better #1 target, but that's it.

According to espn the colts had a better everything. Manning was better, better o line, wr's and defense.
I'm not even trying to hate on manning. I give him his props. But the love affair for him is played out.

You didn't happen to notice the protection peyton was getting vs brees did you?

Pierre Thomas and Bush = Addai and Brown. You can't count mike bell when he didn't get any pt. I'm sure colt fans think mike harts a good 3rd back.

and a better TE. Dallas Clarke was a stud this year. So you admitting Wayne is better than colston. But Garcon isn't better than devery or meach. That's debatable.

the saints have a better overall offense than the colts.
sure the colts have superstars in wayne and clark that rack up a zillion stats.. but the saints have guys just as good if not better.. we just do much more spreading around and are far more balanced.

Prior to season the Colts had Wayne, Gonzales, Clark, then Gonzales went down and it became Garcon/Collie who NO ONE can say they knew a thing about. Saints have wide outs that maybe lack the name of a Owens, Moss, etc but Colston, Moore, Henderson are established receivers in the league where Garcon/Collie were not. Manning helped turn those 2 into the hyped up version we heard about leading up to the Super Bowl.

Nah, Manning still deserved the MVP and is still better than Brees. The Saints > Colts though. I'm sure the homers will be out in full force today

Myth
Wayne, Clark, and Addai have all been to the pro bowl with the Colts.
There are not many teams that have perceived elite guys down the depth chart.
It was just a bs way for them to give Manning the MVP. Last year Brees threw for over 5000 yards. This year he had the highest rating and broke the completion percentage record. I like our guys, but it is bs that they can call Peyton's weapons shite one week and gold the next.
