Congo.

Crichton has had a number of his great books made into sub-par movies. To the contrary, No Country For Old Men is a book that was followed almost to the letter (especially with the dialogue) when adapted into a film.

Right author, wrong book. Sphere was a better a book and a worse movie than Congo.

Right on. Couldn't put Sphere the book down, couldn't watch Sphere the movie for more than 15 minutes. Jurassic Park the movie was cool but the book wsa 10X better to me. The comments about Chrichton have been on the money. Even as far as Timeline goes - barely a decent book but the movie just made you want to Vomit, although it did feature Gerard Butler before he was a Spartan.
