LSU was moved to its present site when Huey Long decided to build a new capitol in the early 30's. The Tulane-dominated legislature refused to let Long build a football stadium.

Ehhhh, I don't think so...

1860 - Seminary of Learning of the State of Louisiana opens in Pineville on January 2 with 19 students under General Sherman before the Civil War
1869 - after a disasterous fire, the Seminary reopens at the State Institution for the Deaf and the Dumb and the Blind, its first location in Baton Rouge
1870 - the Seminary is renamed The Louisiana State University
1874 - Governor Kellogg signs a bill establishing the Louisiana State A&M College in New Orleans, which opens on the campus of the University of Louisiana in New Orleans (i.e., Tulane)
1877 - a bill merges the La. A&M College with The LSU, creating the new LSU & A&M College
1924 - LSU plays its first football game in new Tiger Stadium
1925 - the first classes begin moving to LSU's new campus (property was bought as early as 1918 in anticipation of the move); the last classes would finish moving there in 1932
1928 - Huey Long elected governor
