Billy Cannon wouldn't have been able to run behind our O-Line. The O-Line and the coaching of same was the problem. I read in the paper that Stud told Miles he was going to worker harder next year. What did he do this year, sit on his butt? Based on some of the selected starters and their performance, one has to assume he sat on his butt. No excuse for the poor O-Line performance. The blame is squarely on Stud.

The entirety of LSU's offensive problems cannot be blamed on Stud, though it was a huge problem. Doesn't warm my heart to know the same staff sans McCartney and Porter is back.

RP would have never been an issue had LSU recruited and stocked ample backups. I still think while recruiting under Miles is stellar as far as talent, the need hasn't totally been addressed. Offensive line and defensive line, QB all have been, still are thin. Next year LSU will be deeper at all positions, so will see how that translates. I think after 2010 the origins of the problems will be obvious.

I agree that the O-line was the major problem last year. I wondered all season whether the problem was coaching, talent, or scheme. (I read an article by Rosetta in the Advocate that contended that Crowton's scheme might have been too complicated, not only for Jefferson, but for the line as well.) I STILL don't know what to think about the line. Based on what I've seen Miles do with assistants, though, I would suspect that he knows what the problem was and will get it fixed this year. I'm sure that if he was convinced that Stud was indeed the problem, he would have let him go. So maybe the problem lies elsewhere...or perhaps Miles is giving him one more year to get the line fixed. But, in any case, I'll be REAL curious to see how the line is next year. I know one thing, however...no o-line, no offense.

But as I pointed out, the problems caused by losing Perrilloux were not due to what happened AFTER him, but BEFORE him. We've got Jefferson and Lee (who I think could still be a good QB, if his head isn't too messed up by what happened his first year), and I believe we redshirted a QB this past year. That gives us three scholarship QBs. And we signed one of the top pro-style QBs in the country this year. So I think we're close to getting over the effects of Perrilloux being the only QB signed in at least two years (if not three...I don't remember exactly). Again, that falls on Saban.
