Locked Up/Should Be Locked Up For Future:
Paul
Okafor
Collison
Thronton

Killing The Team:
Stojakovic
Peterson

West is definitely expendable IMO. He has a good contract for his production and could hopefully be used in cutting fat from the team. I think he is a good player, but think a more uptempo style of player would better complement Paul.

What are people thoughts about going forward and turning it around? I think the front office hit the jackpot with their draft so it has me thinkig positively.

Do you think that will be a problem?

Paul needs a an all around star at SF. Collison is gonna be a good trade after the end of this season or next. Mo Pete gone, Stoyjack gone. Thorton was a hell of a pick up!

Isn't Collison a very cheap backup for Paul? He seems like we might be able to use him to actually keep Paul rested without the team going to shite. The only way i see trading him is if we unload Peterson's contract, get a decent role player, and pick up a nice draft pick. If we can sell him as a legit starting PG I could see that as a possibility. The guy did have 17 points and 18 asists against a team who is in the upper half of the league.

No need to hock Collison, he's versatile, and taller than Paul. The Hornets aren't so p!ssant poor a small market team, that they can't have two good PGs, especially when one is taller and has better elevation and is cheap..which Shinn will appreciate

Chandler finally moved, Peja's contract has been the franchise anvil for at least three years now. Peterson is useless, Posey payday was silly, selling Darrell Arthur for chump change, etc..

Nice rebound with Collison and Thornton draft this last year. Great production at cheap cost..no way either should be moved anytime soon.

you're delusional if you think the hornets can keep both long term. the best plan is to keep collison until paul's contract is up, if he re-signs, then deal Collison. If not, then lock him up. Keeping both long term is not feasible as Collison's agent would never let it happen.

The team already has Collison locked up through the 2012-2013 season. I really think it is best to keep him though since it appears you won't find any better back up for cheaper. I think my trade scenario would be fair if we found someone interested and he continues with production like tonight as a back up.

Never gonna win anything with a 6-10 C & without a true PF that can contribute strong numbers.

As good as D West's numbers are, and having been an All-Star twice(loved him at Xavier too)..he isn't overpowering, a finesse guy that doesn't play too far above the rim.

Hornets undersized, and lack the depth, to beat LA, Den, Orl, Cle, Bost..also Hou(when healthy), Dal, SA, Atl, etc..

Same as two to three years ago, at least 2 to 3 players away from a true serious run at the NBA Finals..if wishing for a legit chance to win it.

The Hornets are the lil' engine that could, and are a fab story the last three years, but, if anything, despite the Spurs, Suns, and possibly Mavs, being in decline..

The Hornets are below Utah, and being equaled and surpassed as we speak, by young more talented rosters of youth that have greater future upside in OKC and Port..

All the while, Lakers have raised the bar obscenely since the season NO flirted with the West title run..and upgraded their roster to overtake Boston, Orl, Cle, and the West's best..etc..with Den also now much better with Carmelo arriving at his expected level, and now with Billups savvy directing and challenging that team.

Didn't say longterm, but they have him locked up for years at dirt cheap..would be stupid to move him, unless a desperate team wants to overpay in the form of a star bigman at an Hornet/Small Market affordable payscale..IE young riser that hasn't hit paydirt yet..just like Collison.

right, but the only way he is here past that rookie contract is if paul is gone.

That isn't until 2013..most NBA teams without a Lebron nor Kobe on the roster, will vacillate between contender and pretender wildly in that "millennium" by NBA standards time frame.

Hornets are not that far off. All they need to do is find a player who makes Paul the 2nd best player on the team, and get West off the team.

No team whose 1/2 punch is Paul/West has a bright future in this league.

West for Dirk straight up. U game?

West is a good player, but he doesn't complement Paul's game. He really has a weird game for NBA PFs.
