Uh, Avatar. Can you stand another thread about it?

(I assume there have been threads about it.) Just saw it, and I haven't spoken to anyone yet who feels about it the way I do. Would like to know if any of you agree with me.

I liked the way it looked, and the story line was okay. I was into it. But how could the "graphics," or whatever you call that, be so good, and the writing and acting be so bad? It's like baking the best thanksgiving turkey ever for thanksgiving, and stuffing it was a poop-based stuffing.
eta: I didn't just like the effects. Obviously (to me) the best computer animation ever. I don't know how they went from where CGI was before that movie to where they reached with Avatar. Unbelievable.

I thought it was a over rated piece of crap too.

If you look at all of Cameron's movies, they all have some cheesy dialogue, so I just took it as another awesome Cameron movie. I didnt really see any bad acting, just that "Cameron" dialogue.

Yeah, I guess so. I was saying afterwards that I don't think the world's best actors could save the dialogue. You are right, though, I can't really fault the acting.
Another thing - I don't know who "Jake" was played by. Never seen that actor before this, I think. He's obviously hiding a foreign accent, right?

Sam Worthington. He was also in Terminator Salvation

I know, man. It's just that all I've heard about this movie has been positive. Mostly from facebook. Clearly these people are retarded when it comes to movies.

He's an English-born Aussie. It shows in some of his words in the film.

Right. Googled him after posting. To me, unless he's a huge, bankable A-list star, you don't hire
a guy who has to hide an accent to play the role.
It's distracting, in my opinion.

the acting, dialogue, etc. were very average.
the action, visuals, etc. were fantastic.
