If Dean doesn't hit well in the scrimmage do you think he should be benched?

This isn't football, in baseball people will have bad games go on slumps he is def a starter. Can't say cause of one bad game he won't be a starter.

Sarcasm. Weren't you around last year when Dean started out slow and people were calling for his benching?

I hope he does. I just don't see how he slumps in the first half two years in a row.

OK, then let me prepare you for this. It never fails. Every year people on here make decisions on the baseball players a couple of weeks into the season. A couple of years ago, guys were declaring that Matt Clark was a bust! Last year, guys wanted Dean benched. Some even said that his success the prior year was because he had Clark hitting behind him! My sarcastic post was directed toward TBird because he wanted to bench Dean. We all say some stupid shite on here from time to time.

I got there late, so I dont have the order of the gold team(backups). I got there in time to see all the Purple team(starters). Today was a 4 inning scrimmage.
The Purple team batted 8 batters. The Gold team batted 9. The Purple team won 4-1. Purple team had 8 hits to the Gold teams 1.
The 8 that batted for the Purple team are sure starters. The fielding positions are set for the most part. DH is the only question. Which is why only 8 batted for the Purple team. All 3 DH prospects batted for the Gold team and played a position.
PURPLE TEAM Batting order:
#3 Trey Watkins (SO) CF/LF
#6 Leon Landry (JR) LF/CF
#34 Blake Dean (SR) 1B
#11 Tyler Hanover (SO) 2B
#33 Micah Gibbs (JR) C
#8 Mikie Mahtook (SO) RF
#36 Austin Nola (SO) SS
#9 Wet Delatte (RSFR) 3B
Pitching for the Purple team: 2 innings each
#23 Anthony Ranaudo (JR) RHP
#22 Matty Ott (SO) RHP
GOLD TEAM (NOT BATTING ORDER, JUST POSITIONS)
#21 Johnny Dishon (SO) LF/CF/RF
#13 Alex Edward (FR) CF/RF/LF
#35 Matt Gaudet (SR) RF/LF
#27 Beau Didier (RSFR) 3B
#16 Matt Fury (FR) SS
#5 Mason Katz (FR) 2B
#38 Kyle Koeneman (JR) 1B
#7 Grant Dozar (SO) C
#14 Wes Luquette DH
Pitching for the Gold Team: 2 innings each
#47 Ben Alsup (JR) RHP
#44 Paul Bertuccini (SR) RHP
In bold are the 3 DH canidates. Whoever is hitting the best at the time I would imagine.
Tomorrow will be another scrimmage. It will start around 1 and will be 8 innings. Fans are welcome to show up and enjoy.
The new bleachers are 99% up. They had workers there working on the bleachers. The intimidator structure is up, the sign itself I imagine wont be displayed until opening day.
It felt alot like baseball season today, COLD AND WINDY.

Landry that high in the lineup is a bit scary. I wonder if he gets moved down against left handed starters
Posted on 1/30/10 at 5:46 pm to thunderbird1100
I hope Landry has improved. He's got potential.

Part of his success was due to him hitting behind Clark..
People slump. Sometimes being benched for half a game is the best thing to fix a slump. I don't remember anyone calling for someone to replace him.
EDIT:
#6 Leon Landry (JR) LF/CF
#34 Blake Dean (SR) 1B
#11 Tyler Hanover (SO) 2B

SICK.

If Koeneman hits anything like he did in junior college, then dean and him are going to be scary.
Posted on 1/30/10 at 5:55 pm to JJ27
Because Watkins is better than him, apparently. We have a speedy outfield.
