There were more Saban recruits on each of those teams and the players had more coaching under Saban than the 2007 team. Since Les only road the coat tails of Saban's players, why did it take until 2007 to get the Crystal Ball?

because Les botched the most talented LSU team in 20 years in 2006?

LSU isn't the only program that gets top notch recruits.

We got really lucky to win the BCS in 07 with 2 losses. I don't think miles has it in him for an undefeated season.

Have you forgotten the anti-Miles mantra???

LSU wins are due to talent alone and loses are due to coaching.

So it's not that LSU was any better in those years, it's that the other teams were worse in 2007?

not really a fair assessment....2005/2006 was the Katrina year...he "botched' the Tennessee game but after that, the team played like 10 consecutive weeks and were pretty beat up by the SECCG vs UGA

He blew a 21 point lead at home in 2005. He scored 3 fricking points against Auburn in 2006 with 3 first rounders on offense. In 2007 he should've gone to the Sugar Bowl again, but the most ridiculous events ever took place and LSU jumped from 7 to 2 in the final poll. It was the only year that a 2 loss team won the title. He didn't do anything different in 2007 than he did in 2005 and 2006, same record. In fact he fricked up even worse as he lost TWO MOTHERfrickING GAMES TO UNRANKED TEAMS WHILE BEING RANKED NUMBER frickING ONE.

The '06 team was sick!! A monkey could have won 10 games with that team...the UF loss was just a fluky day, but I will FOREVER curse Miles for allowing Jimbo to frick us is the Auburn game, we should have smoked them!! That loss cost us the start of back to back NC.....Miles is a fricking idiot!!

This +1,000,000

2005: Lost a 21-point lead AT home against Tennessee.
2006: Scores three points against Auburn with vanilla offense (Hey, just like Florida this year!)

I won't fault the guy completely for the '05 Championship Game...injuries were tough to overcome.

I won't fault the guy for bad refs at Florida in '06 either, but no way in '06 should we have needed OT to beat Ole Miss.

'07 was ridiculous with the guy pulling a golden horseshoe out of his butt thanks to Pitt.

Debatable.

But it was definately the only year that 2 losses was good enough to get into the NC game. Miles has yet to prove he is better than a 2 loss coach.

2005 We would not have done any better than Sugar Bowl if we had beaten UT and UGA.
Texas and USC were wire to wire 1 and 2. We would have been on the outside like '04 Auburn.

2006- you can blame refs or Jimbo, but the Auburn game was the dealbreaker.(and of course we would have had to beat UF in the rematch.)

Hester's TD was ruled down at the goal line(when replay showed he crossed the plane) and JR fumbled on a qb sneak to give the ball to UF

I think I remember a little named storm called Hurricane Katrina in 05.

06 we lost to two top 5 teams on the road. We could have easily won the Auburn game except the refs and we got screwed on the UF game too.
