This was a disappointing season. But I think you are overreacting.
As fans we all see the flaws on our own team and have a greener grass syndrome about others. Take Bama for instance. They had a 14-0 perfect season. And yet they had flaws. Their offense wasn't even in the top 40 and at times was downright horrible (worse than ours). They were very lucky to win a number of games this year (Tenn, LSU, even South Carolina).
Staying with the Champs, take Saban. We all see Miles' mistakes. How about that first quarter Thursday night. Alabama was not as prepared and/or did not handle the pressure of the game as well as Texas. That falls on Saban. The fake punt on your own 20 that early in the game? Can you IMAGINE what would be said on this site if Miles had done it? The special teams letting a kickoff sit on the ground? Who's coaching this team? How about the decision in the third quarter to go ultra-conservative on offense with nothing but straight dive plays and just two pass attempts (neither more than 5 yards down field)? Bama had Texas on the ropes and let them back in it.
Saban is a great coach. No one, I mean, no one, has the art of the blitz down better than he does. But he makes mistakes all of the time. Or rather, he makes decisions that don't work out and therefore are mistakes.
Nevertheless, they never lost and are champs. Our mistakes cost us dearly and so we end ranked 17th.
What goes around comes around and I really am optimistic about 2010. A couple of nice wins will bring back the warm feelings of 2007 when Les was Lesticles (even though I despised that term). And we WILL be in it for the SEC title. Just take a deep breath, relax and wait for next September.
