I kind of hope Saban's wife was joking.

quote:

His wife reminded him this morning that a statue of him will be going up outside the stadium in Tuscaloosa. He says he hopes it serves as a model of the reward for working hard.

No, it's true, in accordance with tradition of NC winning coaches.

wow...seems a little weird to pass a statue of yourself when heading to the stadium.

Yep. They worship at those statues like the ancient Greek did at the Parthenon. Some horrific images I'm sure will come to mind.

nope, Mal Moore said they would have it erect by the time he got home tonight. Two bags of quickcrete should do, at 4'11" you dont need much.

Have you been to Bryant-Denny?

They have a large bronzed statue of all their national title HCs.

That's Gene Stallings up the line.

I saw a Bama fan genuflect in front of the Bear's statue a couple of years ago. Caught me completely off-guard.

Well of course now Saban won't have to pass the statue, he can just descend from the heavens at kickoff.

Now THAT is going just a little too far. I may eat, sleep, shite, breathe, and dream LSU football but I do have a God and he is an entirely exponentially larger, much more powerful, and separate event.

They have many, with Bear being their Zeus.

I think the statues, the stadium, walk, renovations, new endzone add-ons, 20M training facilites, etc..are awesome.

Love T-Town and their fans, also they have a great many RV owners and travelers like LSU fan. Most of theirs appreciate LSU and it's hard-hitting defensive lore. They are probably the closest thing resembling LSU fan, of any other SEC school fanbase.

Bama's back to elite longterm, and not just a Dubose or Shula 10+ win or SEC title here there, back to the bigtime, and here to stay status.

Wouldn't bother me. I wish someone would put up a statue of me.

no i've never made the trip. that picture looks pretty cool actually. I could see putting one up after the coach is done with his career, but i don't about while he is still the coach at your program. to each his own i guess

Saban is one of the few HCs that I don't think that it will affect his head.

He'll look in the mirror while brushing his teeth this week, and say "Nick, it's time to move on, aight..back to Process vs Results"

back to the bigtime

So glad you posted this. Their 14-0 season and national championship hadn't quite convinced me. But your kiss arse post has.

Love T-Town

PS: "T-town" is dumbshit even when Tide fans say it. It's much worse when LSU fans say it.

I wouldn't guarantee that any team is elite for the "longterm" with "here to stay status." While every program wants to think so, just look at Notre Dame, Florida State, Miami, etc. There are no guarantees anymore.

Your panties are always in a bunch.

I appreciate, as does my crew, most all SEC towns and fan bases, and if my team isn't able to represent the SEC that year in whatever game or event, I pull for SEC.

I have a cousin married to a Bama grad, have worked for a Bama grad, and had nothing but good experiences when at LSU-Bama games. They are by far the closest to LSU fan of any SEC fanbase, and generally they love LSU and it's great history based upon defense, and Charlie Mac being a Bear disciple.
