NO excuses TCU was outcoached by the Boise DC.
I truly belive that BSU has entered many games this season with little D planning and the attitude that the opponent would need to try to outscore them. They game planned this game totally different and prepared to stop TCU's 5th ranked offense. This was evident by the position changes and new and different defensive looks that they brought out in the game. TCU and Andy Dalton the QB failed to adjust. This not only resulted in too few points on the board but in the defensive TD by BSU making the game 17-10. The TCU running game was shut down by shifted blockig assignments that left the O line of TCU, although larger and stronger, simply inadequate.
KUDOS BSU
Key problems certainly included the lack of communication from the press box in the 1s qtr resutling in the TCU OC having to be on the field throughout the first half without a birds eye view of the new defenses he was facing. It is unclear due to shitty FOX coverage if BSU was also limited by their technology in the first half as they should have been.
However, I must agree wih poor/marginal officiating here:
Holding was not really called on EITHER team
The DPI call that was clearly OPI was HORRIBLE and resulted in major field position advantage.
The call of DPI against Boise late in the game was BS
The lack of call for DPI on BSU when the reciever was hit before ball arrives twice was bad.
The punt return with 31 sec left in the first by BSU was called a fair catch, but it bounced and the play was whistled dead prior to the runner being touched or going out of bounds but no flag.
BSU repeatedly ripped at facemasks and several of the calls were missed. One on Dalton just after he released the ball was even commneted on by the "announcers" with the ref 4 yrds away looking right at him but no flag. TCU right tackle held on this play like a mofo to though.
BSU was blocking in the back on nearly every k/o or punt and the first one they got called on was the third guy on that play with a block in the back.
