Why did Tubby get fired/resigned?

Can someone remind me why Tubby got fired (or resigned) from Auburn after one losing season?

The AD was always looking to replace him. Remember the infamous plane trip to see Peterno in '03 (or '02 or something) and they had to give him a new contract after he went undefeated in '04, but they were always looking for a reason to oust him. When Bama was on the rise and he finally lost to Bama, they had their chance.

This is all prety much spot on. Administration wanted to get rid of him. He took a risk in changing the offense but didn't commit to the spread. (Even then their offense was better than ours was this year. Our defense was just far and away better than theirs was last year.) They lost 7 games, and the AU officials got their reason to fire him.

NO ONE ON THIS BOARD KNOWS what went on behind closed doors and tubby ain't talking. he's not gonna either. the broha ended with tubby leaving and pocketing $5 million big ones. hush money, i guarantee.
