End of Game Clock management

Yep, another thread. I swear to God I did search for 'clock' 'clock management' etc and nothing. Maybe it was on the score board after the game. Here goes:
Are you fricking kidding me? After the Ole Miss game, I truly expected Les and JJ to have learned their lessons. Give me an honest answer, once the ball was spotted after the personal foul penalty, do you think Jefferson (or Les) had any idea that the clock was running? We send a guy in motion, point out a couple of possible blitzers, bullshite around and then finally snap it after about 12-15 secs of being at the line of scrimmage.
I hope like hell that JJ is the man next year but he sure appears to be clueless at times.

Don't know if Miles was aware that the clock was running but JJ clearly was not.

This, in a nutshell, showed the problems lie with JJ's headgear. Prayin for Garrett to be the real deal. . .

Of course, if you spike the ball, it is 3rd and 23. You have no timeouts, so you have 2, maybe 3 plays, period. We got two in. I would like to have seen the ball snapped sooner but I think the thought was to try for a long play down the sidelines and get the field goal.
I do not think that the clock management was a problem or cost us the game. Now, the middle screen with 45 seconds left and no timeouts...oh yeah, the dropped passes...inability to score more than 3 points in the first half, etc.

If we know anything, we know that Garrett isn't sniffing the field for at least 2 yrs.

quote:All shite, I agree. However, Im discussing specifically clock management. In this league, you better be capable of a 2 min. offense and we are not. JJ's been starting all year. Should know better.

No one can say JJ is a headsy player.

JJ should have learned basics of 2-minute offense in HS. . .

But if JJ snaps the ball fast, and misses the coverage, and throws the interception, then the board is on him for that.
If he spikes it it is now 3rd and 23. You probably have to use two plays to get the first down. I would like to have seen the ball snapped faster but I really don't think the time running cost us.
Clock management is more than how fast you snap the ball. running a two minute drill also means calling plays that allow you to minimize time between plays --- throwing to the sideline or, if down the middle, for a first down that stops the clock.

Problem was the middle screen. Had to be top 5 worst calls of the season, and thats saying a lot.

fwiw, I knew it was over when we burned our last 2 timeouts on defense when Penn was inside of our 5 yrd line...
We were going to end up with the ball back, with just over a min left and no timeouts. I would think the so called coach we have would have realized we have difficulties on last min drives and saved them in order to stop the clock if we threw a screen over the middle again.

it was a time of desperation...who gives a shite if he throws a pick, at least we are putting the ball in the air and have a chance to make a play. As opposed to just standing at the line with precious seconds ticking away... Just a bunch of idiots making the decisions out there.

Penn State kicked off with 57 seconds left. They could have almost run the clock out if we don't call those timeouts --- possible they could have --- it is a 40 second clock. Not sure how you are figuring that the timeouts were bad. They gave us a chance.

I don't think what happened Friday was anything close to the debacle that was Ole Miss. The game was over when the flag was thrown for the unsportsmanlike conduct. Outside of a bluegrass miracle, that's where the game was finally lost.

We were one play away from field goal range --- one good pass. We were on our 40. Probably needed to get to their 30, so a 30 yard pass.
You guys crack me up. If he throws a pick this board is in a meltdown for a difference reason.

quote:Not saying it would have been a good call, but it did cross my mind that maybe we should have let Penn St score a TD and save some time on the clock along with our timeouts.

quote:I agree. Crowton appears clueless also. It's very strange. This isnt a first year OC, guy has been around. It seems that the entire team has been overcome with doubt and shite for brains.
