Something that I don't understand, unless I'm missing part of the story, is why the hell isn't the trainer fired over this since they say it's such a big deal how James' was treated. The trainer said he was following Leach's instructions. You can argue all day that he's trying to keep his job and follow orders from the head coach, but ultimately as an ATC isn't it HIS (the trainer's) call on how the player is treated? If he saw something that was unfit and may harm the player in any way, he shouldn't have allowed it to happen. If something does happen to a player due to inproper treatment, it should fall on him for using that treatment for the player, no matter who ordered that specific treatment. With his education he is the only one, outside of doctors and other medical personel, that is qualified to make this call. This all makes me think there's no way this whole Adam James thing is the only reason Leach is out.
LINK
"Pincock said that at Leach's instruction, he placed James in a sports medicine/athletic training shed near the field, with all of the coolers and containers taken away, and instruction from Leach that James should not sit for two to three hours. Pincock described the shed as the size of a single-car garage, with no windows.

In the affidavit, Pincock stated he told James he was "sorry for having to place him in a dark shed but these were Leach's instructions. I do not agree with this form of treatment for anyone, and I discussed this with James."

...."Leach's treatment of James was inappropriate and I did not agree with it. However, I felt I had to follow the instructions of the head coach."

Can anyone shed some light on something I'm missing, or an ATC tell me if I'm wrong. I'm not a trainer, so I don't know how it really is.
And for the record I think Adam James needs to realize he's not playing high school ball anymore where you can get mom and dad to fight all your battles for you; time to grow up and be a man.

None of what happened was part of his treatment for his concussion, it was a punishment. And none of what happened would hurt anyone that has a concussion.

If it was a badly treatment by Leach...the ATs would have done something..remember "Adam" said that there was guards outside..which are the ATs..so they should be fired too...

Come on. It is CLEAR the trainer said and signed whatever the University told him to. This was the only way he could keep his job.

The university has said that locking James in the rooms aren't the only reason for the firing. Also, the trainer's job is to look out for the player's health. The trainer has stated that his health was never threatened in the rooms. By stating that the trainer should have stepped in, you would also assume that the trainer would walk up to the head coach and say, "Sir, I don't think you should use that type of language towards these players."

If the player's health isn't threatened, then the trainer doesn't have any authority over the coach.
