Why is Barkley considered an early Heisman candidate? I've heard a few ESPN folks claim this. What exactly has he done that JJ hasn't? Numbers were fairly average. Is it just that ESPN loves USC or they hate LSU?

Yes...better arm, much much quicker release (this is important and a huge deficiency in JJ's game) and had a comparable year to JJ as a True Freshman.

His upside is much higher than JJ's in my opinion, though JJ does have potential to get better.

USC has had 2 Heisman QBs this in the last 8 years, and another Heisman winning RB.

Barkley: 211-352 59.9 2735 15td 14int

Jeff: 169-272 62.1 1964 16td 6int

You're not going to convince me that Barkley > JJ.

Well wrong on this one Sam. High school shows your college potential and college shows pro potential. Matt Barkley is the prototypical NFL qb, so he gets the edge.

Now, that does not mean that JJ will not be more successful in college. I'm certainly hoping he will earn 2 MNC rings.

Well, statistically speaking which would you rather have?

Candidate A has a rating of 131.32 and a YPA of 7.77, 15 TDs, 14 ints, 19 sacks.

Candidate B has a rating of 137.79 and a YPA of 7.22, 16 TDs, 6 ints, 32 sacks.

seeing as we all know who both are why did you not just put their names in too?

would appear to me that both teams aren't great under their leadership
