I have been reading this board for the last few months and I am struck by one burning question:

Other than quitting is there anything that Les Miles can do to satisfy the NegaTigers?? Please make your answer realistic because he cannot suddenly become St. Nick.

I fully support Les and I think he is just as good as Nick Saban. Many posters are either too young or miopic (sorry big word It means short-sighted) to rebemeber that before 2003 most of us thought we would never see a National Championship in our lifetime. Les Miles is a great coach and even more important he is OUR coach, not NICK SABAN. SABAN LEFT AND IS NEVER COMING BACK!!!

Miles can bounce back next year and we can be in the hunt for an NC next season. A big win over Penn St would be nice also!!

Did you think that in '07 when the offense dismantled the OSU defense in the NC?

First off if you think Les Miles is as good if a coach as Nick Saban, you are retarded. Second, in order for Les to gain the respect of the Negatigers, he needs to retake football 101 and learn to manage the clock better, first and foremost. Then, play the best players, regardless of the rank. S. francois is one example of a guy I think of, dude has tremendous skills. After you play the best players, call plays that utilize their talents. MOST importantly, speak like a normal person, not in code that only he can decipher. I'm just kiddin on that one. Seriously though, he is still a good coach, just needs to quit bringing in Projects like switching DL to OL and vice versa. I honestly think keeping Crowton and stud may be the nail in the coffin IF the team comes up short of the Sec W title

Recruiting-wise, yes...coaching, not.

I would not consider myself a NegaTiger but I am also never gonna be one of those "Fear the Hat" folks who thinks Coach Miles is a calculating genious in a sneaky Columbo sort of "let 'em think I'm stupid while I out-smart them" way.

I think he is what you see. I like him personally, but my issue...and it is an issue inherent to me, and to some aspects a fault of mine...I just can't get past the way he speaks.

And I'm talking not only his manner of speech but the substance of what he says. Both are very underwhelming. And I've heard him speak in every setting possible and to me it comes across the same...one-on-on, private groups, press confernces, practice...whatever.

And having watched the sidelines over the years, too many times have actions of his there seemed, at least in my mind, to substantiate the image he portrays via the spoken word.

And long before Ole Miss, there have been examples aplenty that have been well discussed here and need not be listed again.

So to answer you, I'm never gonna be a guy who comes here an rationalizes and loves on Les. I will however pull as hard as ever for LSU to win.

Like trying to call our last time out after the Landry interception?

Since I have been branded a "NegaTiger" its quite simple, "LES MILES NEEDS TO START DOMINATING OPPONENTS" anything short of dominating opponents on a consistent basis is epic failure. Loosing 2 games or less is okay, but when you struggle week in and week out - never mind. Win Big

If there is marked improvement with next year's team. I mean if we look like a good team rather than the bumbling God-awful offensive team we saw this year.

That, plus be in the NC hunt, plus win the West.

First off, I have not abandoned ship and still fully support Coach Miles. The one big problem that I see is that he is not detail oriented. One glaring example where that is evident is the times that our offense is trying to get plays snapped. At times we look like circus clowns with the coaching staff being slow in communicating the play to the field, players not knowing where to line up, everyone (on and off the field) being unaware of the clock, illegal formations, illegal procedures, etc. It didn´t happen once or twice. It happened many times and became more common place as the game became more crucial. So tightening the ship is the number one thing he can do.

The problem is that I firmly believe that team characteristic is a reflection of the coach. And if Miles is sloppy and unorganized in his personal life (I am not sure if that is the case or not but I suspect it) then the team will NEVER become a well oiled machine. So to me, above Xs and Os or recruiting or anything else, running an organized team at ALL times is the number one thing he can do.

The clock management in the Ole Miss game was sad. A high school coach does a better job. The year we won the National Championship Miles had another go his way against Auburn. Can you say DUMB LUCK? I will always pull for the tigers and am NOT a Les Miles hater. However, enough with the pop warner league mistakes. By the way if Les had just said, "I MESSED UP" not talk around it he would have gotten more LSU fans behind him.

Classic fail. The word is "myopic".

If you're going to attempt to lecture others, it's best if you get your own s#*t together first.

Edited to add: sorry Geauxtiga, didn't mean to pile on your correction.

Realism has little to do with one being dissatisfied with a coach who has the best 5 yr winning percentage in LSU history, a SEC 5 yr winning percentage one game off Saint Nick's, and still has a shot at 4 top 10 national finishes in 5 yrs...a feat never done by another LSU coach.

If we are going to knock the man over his play calling, time management, and speaking style, lets be objective enough to note that in results, what most of us and what most coaches are most judged by, there has been none better in LSU history for a 5 yr period.
